That place where kids learn to love tuna, honey, cheese, bread and oil, weird but true, is at the Children’s Workshop in the next Salón Gourmets, that will take place October 18th to 21st in Ifema Madrid.
Around 800 kids from Comunidad de Madrid undergo every year this Children’s Workshops, where expert instructors, lead by Fernando Arija, workshop coordinator who has been more than 20 years teaching kids how to love food, guide the attendees through different activities to learn labout the importance of nutrition and a balanced diet, as well as the preparation methods and origins of different dishes.
This year, participating children will prepare their own dishes with those products provided by the activity sponsors. An opportunity to touch, smell and, above all, enjoy the production of handmade bread in the Workshop of Bread / Horneo Fresh, discover the nutritional properties of tuna with Balfegó Tuna Tour and get to know the world of beekeepers thanks to the Regulatory Council of the Protected Geographical Indication Miel de Galicia, where they will taste two types of honey so to learn that not all of them are the same. A basic ingredient of the Mediterranean diet could not be missing, olive oil, thanks to Interprofesional of Aceite de Oliva Español that provides its product along with Compass Group- Scolarest. Kids will learn tricks to prepare healthy and delicious afternoon snacks with EVOO as the main ingredient.
And to complete the menu, a workshop of handmade cheeses where children will learn how to taste with the five senses.
With the objective of enhance the importance of daily physical activity and a healthy lifestyle, attendees will take a journey through the food pyramid, so to discover the different products that compose it, their consumption frequency and the health benefits within.
