【DE】Rushing festival of the packaging industry

“If you were not there, you missed something,” says the unanimous tenor of the exhibitors at the end of FACHPACK on the 30th. September 2021. For three days, the trade fair for packaging, technology and processes was a firework of innovation and inspiration for the packaging industry. And the joy of personal encounters with customers and business partners was felt everywhere in the exhibition halls. Pure goosebumps atmosphere! Around 24,000 trade visitors took the opportunity to find answers to their special packaging questions at 788 exhibitors from 33 countries. One in three trade visitors traveled to Nuremberg from abroad. Access to the fair at the entrances with e-ticket and 3G proof was uncomplicated and fast. The hygiene concept has worked; the corresponding regulations have been complied with by exhibitors and visitors.

 

The hustle and bustle in the corridors, hustle and bustle at the exhibition stands. During the stroll through the exhibition halls and in conversations with exhibitors, you could pick up sentences such as: “The investment was definitely worth it!”, “We are glad that we did not shy away from the risk” or “The optimists among the exhibitors were rewarded”. The supporting program was also very popular. Around 9,500 spectators watched the 101 lectures in the forums PACKBOX, TECHBOX and INNOVATIONSBOX. If you missed a lecture at the fair, you can still watch it on the digital tool myFACHPACK until the end of the year.

 

Special offer and internationality

FACHPACK offered an extensive range along the packaging process chain: from packaging materials and packaging machines to packaging printing and finishing to logistics systems and services. 41 percent of exhibitors and about one in three visitors came from abroad, especially from Austria, Switzerland, Italy, the Netherlands, Turkey, the Czech Republic, Poland, France and Belgium.

 

Visitors appreciate FACHPACK as a working fair

Exhausted, but blissful! this is how you can describe the state of mind of Heike Slotta, Executive Director Exhibitions, NürnbergMesse, shortly before the closing of the exhibition gates. Like her, many people were at the fair. Nobody knew before what it would be like and how many visitors would actually come to Nuremberg in this extraordinary, pandemic-influenced year. The fact that there were so many in the end surprised not only the exhibitors, but also the trade fair organizers. And it shows: despite all the digital possibilities, nothing can replace a live event. What visitors particularly appreciate about FACHPACK are the rich discussions with exhibitors, in which ideas for solutions to their packaging problems are created, knows Phillip Blass, Director FACHPACK, NürnbergMesse. FACHPACK is simply a real trade fair – and that’s what makes it so special.

 

Professional audience: 90 percent decide on purchasing issues with  

The high quality of the professional audience was particularly praised by exhibitors. The results of a visitor survey by an independent institute prove this: around 90 percent of trade visitors stated that they were involved in their company’s purchasing and procurement decisions. Around two-thirds of trade visitors have a leading position, more than one in five is in the management. The visitors came mainly from the food and beverage, pharmaceutical and medical, cosmetics, chemical, electronics and automotive industries.

 

New guiding theme for FACHPACK 2022: “Transition in packaging”

FACHPACK sees itself as a guide and wants to offer orientation to the industry. The new guiding theme for 2022 is therefore dedicated to the strong flows that currently affect the packaging industry. Not only the legislator, but also the consumers demand sustainability – and this is profoundly changing the industry. Topics such as circular economy, digitization and e-commerce follow. COVID 19 has brought product protection into focus from a hygiene point of view. And also make areas such as online shopping and home deliveries grow even more. What shopping behavior will consumers show in the future? All these topics are not only a task for the packaging industry, they also offer a great opportunity for change.

 

Save date: The next FACHPACK will take place on a regular basis from 27th to 29th September 2022 at the Nuremberg Exhibition Center.
