With its three subsidiaries, the Westfalenhallen Unternehmensgruppe GmbH operates one of the most well-known event centers in Germany. As the trade fair venue in Westphalia, it plays a role in the North Rhine-Westphalian trade fair and, with its modern congress center, hosts over 1,100 regional and national meetings and congresses every year. Around 1.3 million people flock to the Westfalenhallen every year. Since 1952, the year the Westfalenhalle reopened after the Second World War, more than 100 million people have been guests. In addition to the Westfalenhalle, there are eight other Messe Dortmund GmbH halls. Total area: 60,000 square meters.

The sole shareholder of the Westfalenhallen group of companies Dortmund GmbH is the city of Dortmund. The company’s tasks are carried out by three subsidiaries. The Convention center is operated jointly by the affiliated companies Kongress Dortmund GmbH and Westfalenhalle GmbH, depending on the size of the event.

 

All affiliated companies are responsible for the operational management of the business areas assigned to them in the name and for the account of Westfalenhallen Dortmund GmbH. As the parent company, Westfalenhallen Dortmund GmbH is responsible for central tasks and provides, among other things, all services in the areas of technical services, the commercial area and marketing and corporate communications as well as corporate development.

Modern company headquarters at Strobelallee 45

The Westfalenhallen group of companies has been based in a modern, air-conditioned administration building with a total of five floors and 5,150 square meters of office, traffic and sanitary space since December 2004. 175 rooms are available for the various tasks and purposes of the 133 employees who work there.

 

The dialogue center of the Ticketing Westfalenhallen is located on the ground floor, from which card inquiries can be processed by telephone, email or the Internet. Trade fair customers will find their contact person on the level of the directly connected Westfalenhalle 3, easily accessible from the trade fair hall through a connecting door.

 

The representative glass facade faces south. It covers an area of 1,600 square meters – almost as much as the floor area of Westfalenhalle 3. Customers can park on the 50 parking spaces directly in front of the entrance. In the back of the building, under Westfalenhalle 3 B, there are another 225 parking spaces available.

The trade fair program comprises a total of more than 50 dates. The new entrance to the fair is an anchor point for the strategic development of the Dortmund exhibition center. InterTabac, international top ranking, world’s leading trade fair for Tobacco Products and Smoking Accessories. Co-located with InterSupply – International Trade Fair for the Production of Tobacco Goods, E-Cigarettes, Pipes and Shishas

In 2019 the InterTabac was again the most important meeting point of the industry. With 13.800 guests, the world’s leading trade fair for tobacco products and smokers’ supplies set a new visitor record this year. Around 520 exhibitors from around 47 countries presented their unique range of products and services relating to tobacco consumption. The internationality was once again an important figurehead of the fair. Around 42 percent of the visitors came from abroad. The premiere of the varied supporting programme, which was launched at the same time as the trade fair this year, was particularly well received by the guests. In addition to the innovative supporting programme, the new services made the trade fair duo of InterTabac and InterSupply even more attractive. A range of exclusive hotel packages, improved connections to surrounding airports via a shuttle service and, last but not least, the modern, functional and light-flooded 4,500 square metre new North Entrance.

Once a year CREATIVA, the largest and most diverse creative fair in Europe, takes place at Messe Dortmund. The fair is aimed at everyone who is creative in their leisure time and at work (as teachers, educators, special educators) or who would like to purchase individually designed objects.

CREATIVA has been a fixture in the German creative landscape for more than 30 years. An average of around 700 exhibitors and 90,000 visitors meet once a year at Messe Dortmund.  All creative products and techniques can be found under one roof on a total area of ​​over 40,000 square meters. Elektrotechnik is the trend-setting trade fair for the industry in the middle of Northern Germany and creates an attractive marketplace for manufacturers, retailers, tradesmen and users. Around 400 exhibitors presented the complete range of electrical engineering and electronics in the main areas of building and industrial applications on over 46,000 square meters in 6 Dortmund exhibition halls.

THE WESTFALENHALLE

 

Enthusiastic fans. Legendary appearances. Breathtaking stage shows. The Dortmund Westfalenhalle is THE large concert and event arena in Germany – a listed building and with a capacity of up to 15,380 people. In the middle of the region with the highest population density and purchasing power, it shines with a special architecture as well as an incomparable atmosphere and acoustics. Despite its size, it manages to create a distinct closeness between the audience and the artists in the flexible hall network.

HISTORY

The history of today’s corporate group Westfalenhallen Dortmund begins in 1925. On March 3rd, 1925, what was then Westfalenhalle AG was entered in the commercial register. Since then, the Westfalenhallen have written a unique chapter in German and European trade fair, congress and event history. EXHIBITION HALLS

Messe Dortmund has nine air-conditioned exhibition halls with areas between 1,800 and 10,000 square meters: a total of around 60,000 square meters of gross area. Below is an overview map.

 

HALLS & GROUNDS

The newly built north entrance is the heart of the Dortmund Exhibition Center and leads visitors directly into the 9 exhibition halls of various sizes. The traditional, listed Westfalenhalle is directly adjacent to the exhibition halls. This not only offers a unique atmosphere for concerts, shows or sporting events, but also provides a suitable setting for trade fairs and exhibitions. None of the exhibition halls is more than 200 meters from the main north entrance.

EXTERNAL LOCATIONS

KHC Westfalenhallen GmbH also operates the catering facilities at Dortmund Airport: the Bella Vista restaurant, the Bon Voyage and Vamos bistros for the waiting passengers, the happy landing for those waiting in the arrivals area, the take away for easy jet customers, the kiosks and the fully equipped conference rooms at Dortmund Airport for meetings and parties. The company also operates the bistro restaurant local manufactory in Dortmund’s town hall.
