Chemnitz CULTURAL SUMMER with “Classic meets Picnic” on the Schlossteichinsel and AMBIENT FOREST at the “Inspections” festival.

The Chemnitz CULTURAL SUMMER will be playing music in the midst of secluded nature at several locations this coming weekend. At “Classic meets Picnic” on Sunday, August 15, classical sounds will conquer the Schlossteichinsel, while the art and culture festival “Inspections” will sound a birch grove on the edge of its festival site at the former Altendorf freight yard for three days.

“Classic meets picnic” invites the people of Chemnitz to a musical picnic on the Schlossteichinsel on Sunday, August 15th between 2.30pm and 6pm. The aim of CULTURSOMMER 2021 is to enjoy culture for free and outdoors and to support regional cultural workers and event technicians. After the challenging time of the lockdown, the city is once again used for culture and a stage. Various open-air venues in the city center and in Chemnitz districts will be animated with culture from July 2 to October 9, 2021. However, one focus is also on the integration of different quarters and localities with different social and cultural structures. For example, urban spaces in prefabricated building areas, parks, fun sports areas and open-air stages are also enlivened. The program is aimed at all age groups and presents all branches of the Chemnitz culture and event scene in a multifaceted way. The Kulturstiftung des Bundes is funding the Chemnitz project with 480,000 euros as part of the Kultursommer program. In addition, the city of Chemnitz is providing 120,000 euros of its own funds.
