The fair calendar continues to add rescheduling. This time it was the turn of the 20th Autoclassical. The edition of its twentieth anniversary had already been suspended in 2020 and rescheduled for October of this year. The Board of Directors of the Classic Automobile Club of the Argentine Republic, CAC, has just reported that the meeting will finally take place in 2022 . The reason remains the complicated health situation caused by COVID-19.
“The scene has changed around the world and unfortunately we have to accept this new reality. For this reason, and with great regret, we were forced to suspend this year’s edition of Autoclásica ” confirmed Ricardo Battisti, the president of the CAC . The largest vintage car festival in South America, was to be held between October 9 and 11, taking advantage of the Diversity Day holiday. The current situation of the pandemic and the still uncertain scenario for the realization of such large-scale events precipitated the decision to suspend it.
“We have evaluated many protocols of different events in the world to be able to apply them in Autoclassical, but due to inherent characteristics of our exhibition, it is impossible for us to carry them out in this context. It should be noted that suspending or postponing an exhibition of such magnitude at the South American level is not easy since it requires coordination with sponsors, government entities, exhibitors and the general public, despite the fact that we receive daily expressions of wishes from all the world of Autoclassical return ” , added Battisti.
It is the most important exhibition of its kind in South America due to the quantity, quality, variety, uniqueness and state of presentation of the vehicles exhibited , carefully summoned and selected to represent each historical era of the automotive industry. It takes place every year on a 9-hectare site, located on the Boulevard de los Jardines del Hipódromo de San Isidro.. The CAC, responsible for its organization, has been dedicated since 1965 to the rescue of classic cars. Recognized as a National Authority FIVA (International Federation of Aged Vehicles), it has a heritage of restored historic vehicles and in running condition, as they were at the time of manufacture. In each edition, it brings together numerous historic automobile and motorcycle clubs, autojumblists, artisans and artists from all over the country. We will have to wait another year to see your work.
