【DE】NORTEC 2022: 2G presence fair for production and production technology for maximum knowledge transfer

  • Get started: Campus for medium-sized companies – concept offers knowledge transfer at eye level

  • Presentation of the latest technologies and production processes from creative start-ups to established market leaders

From additive manufacturing to machining, trade visitors get practical insights into the entire production value chain

The anticipation is great: From the 25th to the 28th January 2022, NORTEC will take place in Hamburg as the first trade fair of the year for plant and mechanical engineering – and this as a face-to-face event. NORTEC is the industry meeting place for the metal and plastic processing industry and tool and mechanical engineering. As the first trade fair for production in northern Germany, it maps all stages of value creation in production. For production companies and trade visitors from all over Germany based in the north, the trade fair has been considered a must-see date for over 30 years. Under 2G requirements, the safety and hygiene concept of Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH, which has already been successfully applied at other events, will be implemented. And then in January, under the auspices of Senator Michael Westhagemann, President of the Authority for Economic Affairs and Innovation, it says: Future? Running!

After almost two years of restrictions due to the corona pandemic, the industry longs for professional and personal exchange. Currently, exports in the German electrical industry as well as the demand for mechanical engineering products are increasing significantly compared to the previous year. At the same time, companies have to deal with supply bottlenecks for important components and products. This market environment is a challenge for manufacturing companies of all sizes and dialogue with industry representatives is urgently needed. This is exactly where one of the focal points of the North German trade fair for production lies: With the concept of the “Campus for SMEs”, NORTEC promotes the intensive knowledge growth and know-how transfer for exhibitors and trade visitors.

Bernd Aufderheide, Chairman of the Management Board of Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH, explains: “In Hamburg, we offer our exhibitors and trade visitors short distances with NORTEC, the personal exchange that we had to do without for so long and an industry-wide overview that reflects the entire spectrum of production technology. We look forward to intensive discussions with the established industry leaders, creative startups and digitization experts.”

Industry discussion about the industry’s innovation drivers

On the first day of NORTEC, the Hamburg Messe und Congress (HMC) invites you to the auditorium for an industry discussion. Experts will discuss how different production companies have used the past two years to position their companies for the future and what solutions there can be for subsizing supply chains and developing new value chains in the region. The patron of NORTEC, Senator Michael Westhagemann, President of the Authority for Economic Affairs and Innovation, is also expected to open.

Campus for medium-sized companies: Because know-how and networks are the key to future value creation

NORTEC’s campus concept was already very well received in 2020. For NORTEC 2022, it will be expanded and runs as a common thread through the four days of the fair. Discussion formats and specialist lectures on current topics of the industry are lined up in the auditorium. In addition to the big visitor magnets of the VDMA workshops on three days of the fair and the buyer’s day on Tuesday, the exhibitors will present their products, services and solutions in impulse lectures in the Speakers Corner and look forward to entering into dialogue with the listeners. The exchange at the round tables is becoming even more intensive: Here, 10 trade visitors and experts discuss new production processes, digitization and challenges of the future in the production industry on an equal footing.

This comprehensive educational offer is used by trade visitors and exhibitors alike. Lars Reeder, Managing Director of Hein & Oetting Feinwerktechnik GmbH and Chairman of the Trade Fair Advisory Board, explains: “We use NORTEC to develop new ideas together with the stand visitors and to further train our team. For us, the areas of automation and digitization are of great importance at the moment. Here we would like to develop further and NORTEC offers us many possibilities in a compact form. We can pick out exactly what is of interest and what makes us fit for the future.”

Get started and get started: The start-up area enters the third round

When smart minds meet established industry representatives with extensive market knowledge with innovative ideas, forward-looking business models with high market potential can emerge. Often digital and always creative, the start-up area in hall A1 invites you to get to know each other and exchange ideas.

A – Z of the main topics in personal exchange: From the best practice of automation to the supplier industry

NORTEC’s exhibitor offer is diverse – it covers the entire range of production and production technology. Among others, DMG MORI, the INDEX plants, GF Machining Solutions and TRUMPF Laser and System Technology will be there in 2022.

The multifaceted topic of digitization remains of high relevance, especially for manufacturing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and the trade fair has a lot to offer here: The range of information ranges from tailor-made concepts for IT security in production and order processing to the latest approaches in the field of automation to industry-specific standards, interfaces and solutions in M2M communication (human-machine & machine-man). Claus Ulrich Selbach, Business Unit Manager Maritime and Technology Fairs at Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH, summarizes: “In two halls, we offer our exhibitors and trade visitors the complete variety of topics and state-of-the-art technologies in the field of mechanical engineering as well as metal and plastic processing. At the three joint stands of electronics production, the hansesupplier and our Nordic neighbors, the Danish suppliers in Hall A4, we can finally make contacts again and establish new connections. At the moment, we receive inquiries from companies that decide to show presence at NORTEC almost every day and honestly: We can’t wait for January!”

NORTEC, trade fair for production and campus for medium-sized companies, is the first industry meeting point of the year and will take place from 25th to 28th January 2022 on the grounds of the Hamburg Messe with around 300 exhibitors. NORTEC focuses on the needs of manufacturing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and the exchange with industry experts on an equal footing. The new concept of trade fair and campus since 2020 offers practical solutions for every level of knowledge as well as network formats and workshops that advance SMEs on their way to Manufacturing 4.0. Decision-makers meet well-known companies from metal and plastic processing, mechanical engineering as well as components and processes in production technology in Halls A1 and A4. In combination with the campus, the hotspot for knowledge transfer and networking with pioneers of Industry 4.0 and electronics manufacturing, NORTEC is the place to be for all SMEs that want to ensure their business success of tomorrow.
