【DE】Successful balance sheet for the inventor fair iENA 2021

Over four days, more than 350 inventions from 17 countries were presented at the inventor fair iENA at Messe Nürnberg. The inventors were able to have targeted discussions with investors, dealers and consultants and the first license talks were already taking place on site. The combination with the Nuremberg Innovation Congress and the creative and technology fair “Hack & Make” was very well received.

Nuremberg – The inventor fair iENA showed the exciting results of creative innovation processes again in 2021, after a year’s break. Due to the often still existing international travel restrictions and uncertainties, iENA was smaller this year, but by no means less successful for the inventors present. The inventors not only arrived from Germany, but also from other countries, such as Korea, Croatia and China, inventors came to the iENA in Nuremberg and thus showed that international events are also possible in these times.

The project manager of iENA, Sandra Hübner, draws a positive balance, although there were quite a few externally determined challenges in the preparations: “iENA 2021 has shown how important and fruitful live events are. The inventors presented inventions, some of which require explanation and complex inventions, which is simply best in a personal conversation. We are particularly pleased that many dealers, investors and licensors came to iENA and were interested in the inventions, says Sandra Hübner.

In the stage program of iENA, professional impulses were given and discussion rounds were held in which inventors talked about the hurdles, challenges and opportunities and presented their projects, innovations and ideas to an interested audience.

The highlight for the inventors was again this year the iENA medal ceremony, at which the best inventions were honored and honored. Previously, a jury of experts looked at and evaluated each of the 350 inventions. The “IENA Grand Prix” went to Michael Könker with the Wendebank this year. The youth inventors also brought promising inventions to Nuremberg: The prize of the city of Nuremberg went to Niklas Senz, Rebecca Ritter and Maria Messmer from the Schülerforschungszentrum (SFZ) Südwürttemberg for their biodegradable plastic films. The Grand Youth Prize 2021 of the European Association of Inventors AEI went to Jan Heinemann with his extinguishing idol, an invention developed within the framework of Jugend forscht. Korea was a partner of iENA this year and the Korean inventors from Sunmoon University were awarded the AFAG Messen und Ausstellungen GmbH prize for an information and guidance system for bus lines that they have developed.

Focus on innovation with iENA and innovation congress

The combination of trade fair and congress worked well and the synergies of the inventor fair iENA and the innovation congress were used effectively. This showed that the congress participants were also the right visitors to iENA and were interested in the inventions and developments presented there. At the same time, some inventors and developers used the technical impulses of the congress to further develop themselves and their innovation. The lectures in the Innovation Congress built on each other and then resulted in exciting and lively discussions.

Creative and Technology Festival Hack & Make

Hack & Make was well attended at the weekend: Many creatives, tinkerers and curious people were interested in the offers presented by the FabLab Region Nuremberg and its partners. Hack & Make showed the ingenuity and possibilities of creative people who make their ideas a reality. Visitors were able to marvel at many new creations and try out 3D printing and laser cutters themselves on site. In addition to Siemens, other FabLabs from the region as well as other

Exhibitors from the maker scene involved. The plans for Hack & Make 2022 are already underway.

iENA 2022 – Outlook for the international inventor fair

Next year, the inventors’ fair iENA will take place again on the traditional date, parallel to the consumer fair Consumenta. The Innovation Congress will be further expanded for next year and the partnerships will be deepened and Hack & Make will also be planned in parallel again. iENA is to regain its usual international strength next year. The foundations for this have already been laid this year with the re-start.
