More than 30 artisans, designers and small manufactories will present on the 6th and 7th November Artful, original and individual in the Klaffenbach Water Castle.
On the 1st November weekend, the Klaffenbach water castle invites you to a special kind of shopping spree beyond mass consumption. Selected artisans and designers present and sell original, individual and high-quality things for every taste and budget in a historical ambience. Decorative home textiles, delicate porcelain, surprisingly different jewelry, filigree and funny paperwork, warming and dressy fashion, toys for young and old and much more inspire in their craftsmanship, inventiveness and sustainable implementation.
More than 30 exhibitors will present their carefully and artfully designed unique pieces this weekend, including delicate and lightly designed jewelry by Dorit Schubert, dynamic and often asymmetrically cut fashion from TAF WOMAN as well as unique leather goods from the leather manufacturer M. Thielemann. Marlene Tröger shows her elegant unique pieces of modern wood art and Christina Salzwedel porcelain design enlivens the kitchens with her shapely and functional kitchen aids. The winner of the “Von Taube Prize” in 2019, Katja Fietz with her fashion label WOMBLU, also presents new creations with traditional blue print on young, fresh fashion.
These and numerous other offers invite you to look, browse and buy on all floors of the Renaissance castle. Between shopping tours, all guests have the opportunity to pause and enjoy in the historic ambience with our partner Suppengrün.
NEW this year:
Bagpipe maker Bodo Schulz presents himself and his rare craft for the first time this year as part of the Werkkunstmarkt. On Sunday, the 7th November 2021, he invites interested parties to try their hand at the “Hümmelchen” in the game. The trial course for beginners lasts about an hour. Course fee (incl. Rental instrument): 10.00 €. Please register at email@example.com.
We are also looking forward to offering the “German Design Graduates” for the first time this year as part of a small special exhibition to be able to offer a platform for their work. “German Design Graduates” is a platform that shows, discusses and supports the design attitudes of graduates of German universities. The initiative was founded in 2019 by Professor Ineke Hans (University of the Arts Berlin), Prof. Hermann Weizenegger (University of Applied Sciences Potsdam), Prof. Mark Braun (University of Fine Arts Saar) and Katrin Krupka (Design M.A. ; visiting professor).
As part of the Werkkunstmarkt, Maiella Di Donato, Clara Keseberg, Baoyi Li, Elena Thalia Scholz and Darius Zalzadeh present their exhibits selected by a renowned jury of experts.
The 19th Werkkunstmarkt is supported by the Chemnitz Chamber of Crafts. In addition to the Von Taube Prize, a young talent prize will be awarded to young design graduates for the first time this year. The Young Talent Award is donated by the agency Revolte GmbH.
Tickets for the Werkkunstmarkt are available in advance and at the box office. With the advance booking tickets, our visitors not only save long waiting times at the ticket office, but can also use public transport free of charge for a relaxed arrival and departure.
The 3G regulation and mask requirement apply in the house.
In the entrance area to the castle courtyard, a test site for corona tests (chargeable) is available on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Every year, the Werkkunstmarkt demonstrates the impressive performance of applied art from unique to small series in a wide variety of shapes and materials. Since 2007, those exhibitors whose works convince the expert jury with particularly high quality in design and workmanship have been honored with the “Von Taube Prize” in the craft category.
