Messe Stuttgart supports Trott-war’s “Donation Your Deposit Initiative” with collection containers in the East and West entrances

Keep the environment clean and donate something at the same time? Nothing easier than that! Just in time for Stuttgart MesseHerbst, bottle collection containers from Trott-war e.V. from the “Donate Your Deposit” initiative are ready in the entrance areas East and West, and thus at two particularly frequented points of Messe Stuttgart, to receive empty beverage bottles and cans. Employees of Trott-war empty the containers by arrangement and feed the collected bottles to the recycling cycle. The Pfanderlös flows into the creation of new jobs and thus benefits 100 percent trough war.

The offer forms another mosaic stone in Messe Stuttgart’s sustainability concept. We support this initiative from the bottom of our hearts and we hope for numerous donations from our visitors for Trott-war. The campaign fits very well with the “Grüner Messe Stuttgart”, because as a climate-neutral trade fair location, the environmental idea is at the top of our list, said Stefan Lohnert, Managing Director of Messe Stuttgart at the presentation of the new collection containers.

Trott-war was founded in 1994 as an association of journalists and private individuals in Stuttgart who were looking for ways to create jobs for the socially disadvantaged. The “Donate Your Deposit” initiative blows into this horn. Students of the University of Hohenheim developed the idea. The initiative was launched at Stuttgart Airport on the 4th. September 2013. Since then, around two million deposit bottles have been collected and recycled. At Stuttgart Airport, the deposit initiative has become a success story. We are pleased that Messe Stuttgart is now also present, said Walter Schoefer, spokesman for the management of Flughafen Stuttgart GmbH.

“Thanks to the donations volume of Stuttgart Airport, we were able to create five jobs by the way,” explained Martin Grunenberg, Deputy Managing Director and Administrative Manager at Trott-war. But that’s not how it should stay. Because Trott-war has set itself the goal of returning empty bottles and cans that are simply thrown away back into the recycling cycle on a larger scale. In addition, awareness of the environment, but also of the value of deposit containers in society is to be raised. “Messe Stuttgart is a very important partner for us,” Grunenberg continued, because “on the one hand, we hope for a high deposit from the many trade fair visitors. And on the other hand, we need the proximity to Stuttgart Airport, because the groupage is sorted there and picked up from the Green Dot. An industrial counting machine then determines the Pfanderlös, which is credited to us, based on the quantities.” In the future, other large companies in Stuttgart are to be convinced of the good cause.
