【ES】Piscina & Wellness presents innovation from the perspective of well-being, health and community

One of the novelties of Piscina & Wellness Barcelona, which is held from November 29 to December 2, is its unique innovation program with which it wants to energize and publicize the new market solutions presented at the fair from the perspective and experience of the demand sectors and people who use aquatic facilities. Among its activities, the show includes a conference with about fifteen experts who will address innovation in response to pool uses linked to well-being, health and the community. Also the presentation of the Piscina & Wellness Barcelona Awards will illustrate this new perspective by recognizing innovative aquatic spaces that bring benefits from one of these three areas.

For Piscina & Wellness Barcelona, the main purposes to which an innovative, sustainable, well-equipped and maintained pool contributes are well-being, health and community. Wellness, understanding the pool as an irreplaceable area of leisure, entertainment and fun, especially for families, and as a space for relaxation and sensory pleasure. Health, for the benefits that swimming brings as a sports practice, physical activity for all ages, and therapeutic functionality for people with special needs, rehabilitation and muscle reinforcement. And community, as a place of collective meeting and relationship in diversity.

Innovation days

Thus, based on these three purposes, the event has defined the contents of its Innovation Days that will take place on November 29 in the afternoon in Hall 5 of the Gran Via de Fira enclosure in Barcelona.

The first round table, dedicated to the axis of well-being, will discuss how innovations in the pool sector can help build exciting value propositions that connect with new users or boost the potential of aquatic spaces as places to relax and take care of yourself. Speakers will be: Carmelina Montelongo, international wellness consultant and founder of Sisi Atelier; Miren Jiménez, CEO of ISABA Projects; Juan Salas, director of sports and entertainment at Bahia Principe Hotels and Resorts; and Andrea Trillo, marketing director of Aire Ancient Baths Group:

The second session will focus on health and learning how swimming pools and aquatic facilities have improved their ability to practice sports or to offer therapeutic treatments to people with special needs. The experts who will speak are Andoni Urrutikoetxea, Wavegarden engineer; Berta García, coordinator of the Mental Health Services of Ciutat Vella de Sant Joan de Déu; Héctor Cruz, president of the Business Association of Swimming Clubs of Catalonia and manager of the Barceloneta Athletic Swimming Club; Bruno Madirolas, physiotherapist of the Guttmann Institute; Ignasi Riera, director of care operations of Sant Joan de Déu; and Adam Bonvin, co-founder of Alaïa.

The third and final round table will respond to the creation of aquatic spaces that promote aquatic literacy, access and inclusion of all groups. Péter Bordás, general director and head of design of BORD Architectural Studio; and Montse Ferrer Ortega, head of communication of the Fluidra Foundation, will explain their point of view.

Pool & Wellness Awards Finalists

This year the traditional Pool & Wellness Awards join this innovation program and reformulate its categories. Thus, in addition to rewarding the most innovative product in connectivity and sustainability of those exhibited at the fair, projects of swimming pools and wellness centers will be recognized both newly built and rehabilitated that stand out for the real implementation of solutions that contribute to well-being, health and the community, responding in an exemplary way to these demand needs. The award ceremony will take place during a gala on November 29 at the Gran Via de Fira enclosure in Barcelona.

In the “pool is well-being” section, there are nominated several projects in the aquatic fun category such as Caldea shows to enrich the experience of the users of this thermoludic center; the Ecoresort Santa Clara in Brazil for all audiences with natural beach pools, slides and spaces for family enjoyment; and the Zamá children’s leisure themed area of Bahia Príncipe Grand Tulum in Mexico. There are also several finalists in the aquatic relaxation category. Specifically, the panoramic lagoon of Caldea located on the outdoor terrace and with transparent floor; the Aire Ancient Baths centers in London and Copenhagen and the Punta Caliza Hotel in Mexico where everything revolves around its central pool and flooded corridors.

In the field of “pool is health” (water sports category), the Alaïa bay project are finalists, the first surf pool in the Swiss Alps that by itself becomes a tourist destination and the GOfit sports center in Peñagrande (Madrid) that incorporates the Nagi Smart Pool’s anti-distack safety system and measurement of entertainment metrics. Meanwhile, in the aquatic treatment category, the Guttmann Institute of Barcelona are finalists for its therapies in the aquatic environment for people with neurological lesions or reduced mobility; and the Hospital of the San José Foundation in Madrid that has a specific aquatic therapy unit for the rehabilitation of neurological patients.

Finally, in the axis “pool is community” the finalists who opt for the award are the Aquaticum Debrecen aquatic complex in Hungary, which combines spa, lido and water park and turns this space into a reference enclave for the local community and the attraction of visitors; and the Parc de les Aigües de la Muntanyeta (Barcelona) that forms a large complex for the family leisure of residents.

Connectivity and sustainability

For its part, Piscina & Wellness will recognize the most innovative products exhibited in this edition of the fair that stand out for their sustainability and connectivity.

In the sustainability category, the BiopoolTech biofiltration system that reduces water consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and does not need chemicals; Gresmanc Group’s antibacterial ceramics; and the Eps Pools pool construction system that reduces structural weight and saves energy in air-conditioned vessels; Fluidra’s Victoria Plus Silent VS pumps with low noise and extraordinary filtration quality; and Fluidra’s Neolysis 2; a system that combines the power of UV sanitization with the efficiency of saline chlorination and that can be managed from a mobile device so it also opts for the award in the specialty of connectivity.

Precisely in this area, the PrimeLab 2.0 photometer of Water-I.D are also nominated to digitally measure and parameterize water quality; Siloe de Autocontrol Piscinas, a cloud system for the management and automated maintenance of community pools, for public use, water parks or wellness centers; Wifipool de Beniferro, a system to control swimming pools via WiFi.
