The from 14th to 16th January 2022 at the Munich Exhibition Center, opti, international trade fair for optics & design, will not take place at the beginning of the year. Uncontrolled high-speed infection numbers in the corona pandemic and short-term changing requirements on the part of politicians also with regard to 2G plus regulation with visitor limits make reliable planning impossible. Therefore, the organizer has decided to move the opti to May. It will take place from the 13th to the 15th May 2022 (Friday to Sunday) in Munich.
The prerequisites for a successful and carefree opti from the 14th to the 16th January 2022 have changed drastically and deteriorated significantly in recent days due to the corona pandemic. It is currently not foreseeable whether the situation will ease again by January. Our ultimate goal was and is to organize an opti 2022 that promises success for all participants. In this further worsening situation, we can no longer guarantee this for the planned event period, explains Klaus Plaschka, Managing Director of the organizer GHM Gesellschaft für Handwerksmessen mbH.
In addition to the uncontrolled high-speed number of infections, the urgent wishes of exhibitors have also brought about this decision. As for the opti visitors, it is hardly possible for service providers and employees of the opti exhibitors from today’s point of view to plan their participation for the future despite the comprehensive hygiene concept.
Security concept adapted to the end
Until the end, the GHM and the opti team had continuously adapted the security concept of opti 2022 in order to create the best possible conditions for a successful industry meeting. Unpredictability has reached its peak, not least with the latest federal and state ordinances and the U-turn this has taken place with regard to the political requirements currently in force.
Exhibitors and opticians alike were looking forward to seeing you again with us! opti is also and especially in these difficult times an efficient sales platform. Our claim is to reliably enable the exhibiting companies and opticians to achieve economic success – we would like to offer the trade fair audience a great product experience. Until recently, this was possible under the conditions currently in force. But all the new facts and developments now underlying are collected, only sensible action only allows a postponement of the opti. I am sure that as trade fair organizers, we will meet with understanding from exhibitors and visitors with this difficult decision. This makes us all the more looking forward to seeing you again in May,” says Bettina Reiter, head of opti.
The opti 2022 will take place from the 13th to the 15th May 2022 with the same hall concept (four halls, C1 to C4) and the same infrastructure in Munich – including the well-known entrances northwest and north, parking facilities and conference rooms.
