Exhibiting companies and EHI Retail Institute welcome the decision
The ongoing corona pandemic and above all the rapid spread of the Omikron variant also have an impact on EuroCIS 2022, which is now on the 31st. May to 02. June 2022. Messe Düsseldorf has decided on this new date in close coordination with the exhibiting companies and partners involved due to the dynamic infection process and the still uncertain situation with regard to travel and quarantine requirements in the individual European countries. EuroCIS, The Leading Trade Fair for Retail Technology, was originally from the 15th to the 17th February planned.
“Trade is urgently waiting for EuroCIS, because nowhere are the innovation cycles as short as in retail technology, and EuroCIS is the most important innovation and business platform in the industry,” emphasizes Erhard Wienkamp, Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf. We want to give all participants in the retail industry particularly affected by the pandemic security of planning and action. We expect a strong EuroCIS with high international participation in early summer, in an overall situation no longer so massively dominated by Covid-19, explains Wienkamp.
The EHI Retail Institute also advocates postponing the fair by three and a half months. The many uncertainties that are still in the air in connection with Covid-19 right now pose a high risk for exhibitors in terms of the necessary trade fair planning, the associated investments and the achievement of their trade fair goals. Therefore, we welcome a postponement until the end of May, with the aim of being able to meet the “EuroCIS brand” again. This is entirely in the interests of exhibitors and trade fair visitors, says Michael Gerling, Managing Director of the EHI Retail Institute, Cologne.
Elke Moebius, Project Director EuroCIS, thanks for the good cooperation with all partners and the extraordinary loyalty of the exhibitors with regard to EuroCIS: “We are pleased that we were able to agree on the new date in close consultation with the EHI, major exhibitors and many other partners. The cohesion of the EuroCIS community in these grueling times is enormous and forms an excellent basis for a successful event from 31. May to 02. June of this year.”

Any postponement or cancellation is always an event- and industry-specific decision that does not affect Messe Düsseldorf’s other planned events. Messe Düsseldorf looks at each event individually and takes into account not only the infection situation, the travel situation and the legal situation, but also the specific requirements of the respective trade fairs and their industries. In doing so, we are in close contact with the authorities and the partners of the respective trade fairs, with whom we always evaluate the situation in good time and decide responsibly.
