The developments of the corona pandemic do not sufficiently make large face-to-face events plan – ITB Berlin focuses on congress streaming and Digital Business Day in March 2022 as well as physical satellite events in the course of 2022 – Resilience, digitization and sustainability in the focus – Unified website itb.com as an entry page of all ITB brands
The ITB Berlin 2022 will not take place as planned with its presence part. Due to recent developments and accompanying regulations in the wake of the corona pandemic, Messe Berlin cannot offer its exhibitors and partners the necessary planning security for the implementation of the ITB Berlin presence days at the beginning of March. The current pandemic situation and the associated tightened travel restrictions as well as the limitation of participants in major events moved Messe Berlin to take this step. Of course, we also considered postponing ITB Berlin to the summer, but in coordination with our partners, left the important time for the travel industry at the beginning of March, as the summer months are the main operational phase for travel and tourism. The annual date of ITB Berlin is deliberately chosen, as our customers largely carry out their business deals now or around the month of March. Therefore, we are strengthening the digital shares of ITB Berlin for the congress and the Digital Business Day. Under no circumstances will we leave the industry, which was also hard hit by the pandemic, alone and plan a number of additional digital and analog offers and formats in 2022, comments Martin Ecknig, CEO Messe Berlin.
“We very much regret this situation,” adds David Ruetz, Head of ITB Berlin. As organizers, we have made every effort to make a physical ITB Berlin possible again in the German capital. Especially in these times, the industry needs orientation, exchange and inspiration. However, the recent look at the corona situation and the associated tightening of the rules leave us no choice but to adapt the concept for 2022 again and to give our national and international exhibitors and visitors clarity and much-needed planning security before the Christmas break. With digital offers such as congress streaming and Digital Business Day as well as our new regional travel events during the year, we will offer the industry a high level of technically exciting content and new business opportunities in 2022″.
Information on the new concept will be available daily from January at itb.com. The FAQ answers questions about cancellation, new conditions of participation as well as ticketing and Digital Business Day.
