Messe Düsseldorf creates the highest air quality
3,000 HEPA filters will be installed by July
Messe Düsseldorf offers a new technical highlight: The halls of EuroCIS 2022, The Leading Trade Fair for Retail Technology, from 31. May to 02. June, are already fully equipped with HEPA filters. These high-performance particle filters bring clinically pure air into the halls with lower heating and cooling energy consumption at the same time. By the end of June 2022, the entire Düsseldorf trade fair and congress site will be equipped with HEPA filters.
It is currently the most effective air treatment technology: HEPA filters remove 99.9 percent of viruses, bacteria and other particles from the air and return the purified air to the room. These high-performance particle filters ensure the highest air quality in operating rooms, intensive care units and now also at Messe Düsseldorf and Düsseldorf Congress, among others. Halls 1, 9 to 17 and the Congress Center Düsseldorf have already been converted. Of the investment amount of 1.4 million euros for the complete conversion, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection has taken over 80 percent as part of a funding program.
Risk of infection drops to a minimum
Wolfram N. Diener, Chairman of the Management Board of Messe Düsseldorf, emphasizes the advantages for the restart of the Düsseldorf trade fairs: “Our new HEPA filters contribute to the fact that we can offer all guests the greatest possible protection during our trade fairs. Together with our high-performance ventilation systems, our voluntary hygiene measures, our extensive grounds and spacious halls, we reduce the risk of infection to a minimum. After two pandemic years and a period of intensive digital communication, the participants can network again with a good feeling, initiate business and experience innovations.”
Contribution to sustainability
The HEPA filters complement and relieve the already powerful ventilation of Messe Düsseldorf. The fully automated system with 60,000 measuring points ensures optimal air quality and brings ten million cubic meters of fresh outdoor air into the halls over ten kilometers of ventilation pipes per hour. Bernhard J. Stempfle, Managing Director Finance and Infrastructure, emphasizes efficiency: “The HEPA filters reduce the heating and cooling energy consumption of our ventilation systems and enable energy-efficient operation. At low outside temperatures, we can add warm hall air to the outdoor air introduced, thus reducing the heating demand and still achieving clinically pure supply air. Thus, the HEPA filters also make an important contribution to a sustainable trade fair.”
In addition to the HEPA filters and ventilation systems, the voluntary hygiene measures of Messe Düsseldorf create additional infection protection. For example, the company still recommends wearing medical masks on the premises and keeping a distance of 1.5 meters from other people. In addition, it provides disinfectant dispensers and has frequently used contact surfaces cleaned several times a day. Distance markings at waiting areas ensure that crowds are equalized, for example in front of information desks and cash registers. Doors are placed, unless they are fire doors, in order to be able to pass them without contact. Transparent separations at service and information counters also remain.
The EuroCIS trade fair is open from Tuesday, 31. May, to Thursday, 02. June 2022, open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets are only available online. The day ticket costs 25 euros, the two-day ticket 35 euros and the season ticket 45 euros.
