【DE】Trade fair NORTEC becomes a forum for digitization solutions in production

From 31. May to 3. June, the Hamburg exhibition center is about products, applications and services with which companies in production and production technology can sharpen their offer profile. A main topic of the fair is dedicated to the diverse possibilities of Industry 4.0. The user benefit of SMEs is the focus of the event. NORTEC offers trade visitors the opportunity to benefit from a maximum range of information in a place with short distances.

The range of digital technologies is developing rapidly. They enable the networking of people, plants and processes in an almost endless variety of different applications. An important question is: How do I get an overview of which technologies and investments are indispensable and forward-looking for my company as detailed as necessary and as compact as possible? Here, trade fairs such as NORTEC in Hamburg offer an excellent opportunity to obtain precise information and at the same time establish contacts with providers and industry networks.

Develop a digitalization strategy for higher resource efficiency

In addition to the more efficient design of workflows, optimized information management can also reduce the use of materials and energy consumption. But where do you start – or: What are the next steps if your own company is to be made more competitive? The enforcement of digitization measures in companies is first and foremost about simplifying internal work processes. This opens up new opportunities to increase productivity, quality and flexibility within production processes.

Bernd Aufderheide, Chairman of the Management Board of Hamburg Messe und Congress, adds: “Especially for companies that are now planning technical changes, NORTEC is an excellent point of contact for individual solutions. On four days of the fair, we offer our trade visitors the opportunity to get a compact overview of the technical innovations of our exhibitors. The campus concept accompanying the fair is just as attractive. Here, the individual questions can be discussed at round tables, in the Speakers Corner and as part of the workshop series.”

VDMA Workshop on the NORTEC Campus: Digitization in production – verifiable success!

On Wednesday, June 1, 2022, digitization will be the daily topic of the VDMA workshop. Here, practical examples show both measurable successes and the hidden stumbling blocks on the way to fully digitized processes. The quickly visible successes of the first measures in modernization are reported as well as on the possibilities of future elements, such as artificial intelligence (AI), the mobile radio standard 5G and the OPC UA standard for data exchange via a manufacturer- and platform-independent service-oriented architecture. The speakers work, among other things, at a transmission manufacturer and in a start-up and are available to workshop participants for intensive exchange.

Use your own data as a basis for process optimization and resource efficiency

Especially in production and logistics, the analysis of the data generated during operation is crucial for controlling effective processes. While in logistics the systematic recording of incoming and outgoing goods is obvious in order to be able to control the delivery processes as required, data protection is hidden deeper in plant construction. When it comes to predictive maintenance, you have to look into the machines and evaluate sensor data: Is the speed constant? Is the operating temperature within the optimal range? Are hairline cracks forming that announce critical material fatigue and can lead to a material breakage and thus to machine failure in the future?

The project manager of NORTEC, Andreas Arnheim, reports: “Enthenth improved efficiency in production and the expansion of process stability are decisive factors for many of our trade visitors in order to continue to be competitive in the future. We are very pleased that we can make an important contribution to this with the versatile information offered by NORTEC.”

Exhibitor offers represent the digital value creation lette

NORTEC offers scalable solutions for integration into existing machines or the expansion of production facilities on both the hardware and software sides. Established companies present their technical innovations as well as young companies in the start-up area. There is a lot to discover: From additive manufacturing to individually configurable systems from the fields of automation and robotics – from digital prototyping to CAD/CAM software for milling and turning technology as well as cycle-controlled lathes.

For four days, the Hamburg exhibition center will become the marketplace for offers and demands for upcoming investments in production and production technology and the motto of the fair sums it up: Future? Running!

NORTEC, trade fair for production and campus for medium-sized companies, is the industry meeting place in the north and will take place from 31. May to 3. June 2022 on the grounds of Hamburg Messe in halls A1 and A4.

NORTEC focuses on the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and the exchange with industry experts on an equal footing. The new concept from trade fair and campus since 2020 offers practical solutions for every level of knowledge as well as network formats and workshops that advance SMEs on their way to Manufacturing 4.0. Decision-makers will meet well-known companies from metal and plastic processing, mechanical engineering, electronics production, as well as components and processes in production technology in halls A1 and A4. In combination with the campus, the hotspot for knowledge transfer and networking with pioneers of Industry 4.0 and electronics manufacturing, NORTEC is the place to be for all SMEs who want to ensure their business success of tomorrow.
