【DE】Double trade fair RecyclingAKTIV & TiefbauLIVE records double-digit visitor growth

Practical relevance increases national appeal and ensures convinced exhibitors

The demonstration fair RecyclingAKTIV & TiefbauLIVE closes its doors with strong exhibitor and visitor numbers and thus significantly exceeds the last event in 2019. Around 9,500 visitors informed themselves over three days from over 210 manufacturers, dealers and service providers, who depicted a wide range of services offered by the construction and environmental industry. A very high proportion of trade visitors, a greater reach and personal exchange made RecyclingAKTIV & TiefbauLIVE 2022 an all-round successful trade fair.

Britta Wirtz, Managing Director of Messe Karlsruhe, says: “We are proud to be able to offer RecyclingAKTIV & TiefbauLIVE, a sales engine for the promising construction, demolition and recycling industries. From the point of view of sustainability and scarcity of raw materials, the careful handling of existing and installed raw materials gains a whole new sustainability. With the innovative machine and plant technology shown, the double trade fair provides important impulses for the construction industry and the circular economy as well as for the sustainable use of raw materials in the Karlsruhe technology region.”

Olivia Hogenmüller, project manager of RecyclingAKTIV & TiefbauLIVE, is pleased about the successful conclusion of the fair: “RecyclingAKTIV & TiefbauLIVE 2022 was a complete success. The noticeable increase in the influx of visitors and the professional top-class live demonstration shows form our unique profile. This is what our double trade fair stands for and we were able to make this accessible to a wide audience, including a good and above all flexible organization. I am very pleased with how positively the fair was received by everyone involved. We also owe this to the six associations represented on the advisory board, who actively support us with their professional commitment.”

Double trade fair connects important industries with each other

The circular and construction industry met for the third time at the Karlsruhe exhibition center as part of the double fair. The approximately 9,500 visitors were convinced of the efficiency and performance of the approximately 1,000 machines and systems presented, which could be experienced live at two thirds of the stands. One of the exhibitors who presented his technology live is Kurz Aufbereitungsanlagen. Sales manager Harald Weber would participate in the fair again at any time: “The combination of topics convinces me and emphasizes the fair positively. Our customers are interested in both recycling technology and civil engineering and can experience both topics here at a trade fair.”

The visitor survey also proves: 67 percent of visitors are interested in both RecyclingAKTIV and TiefbauLIVE. Daniel Kohler, Managing Director Gerike Bau, comments positively on the combination of topics: “The concept of the fair convinces us, as a civil engineering company is always accompanied by the question of how we can transport or recycle the excavation. Therefore, the fair is ideal for keeping up to date. We were also able to meet industry colleagues at the fair for many years and exchange ideas personally.”

The participants of the first major industry meeting after the start of the pandemic praised the commitment and service of Messe Karlsruhe. The exhibitors also praise the high service orientation of Messe Karlsruhe. Günther Braun, specialist consultant at Agrotel, says: “We would like to mention positively the very good quality of service and the friendliness of the trade fair’s specialist staff. We were helped competently at all times. At no trade fair are we served as well as here.”

Focus on networking and professional exchange

The longing for a live event was great and the visitors and exhibitors used the double fair to revive personal contacts. Jochen Schwab, Managing Partner of SCHWAB GmbH, also confirms this: “Finally something is going on again – dredging, dusting and crashing. We are happy to be close to the customer again. We can show a lot here and the customers are very interested. We take this euphoria with us, we have already been able to get many businesses off the ground.” Jonas Pillmayer, Marketing Manager at SkanCraft, also confirms: “The double trade fair is an absolutely mandatory event for every manufacturer or dealer in the construction industry. Due to the open and well thought-out design of the supporting program, you can get back to networking after a long measurement-free time.”

In order to participate in the fair, many visitors from almost all federal states took a long journey. For example, a third of the visitors traveled over 100 kilometers and more than half of them even over 300 kilometers.

Visitors to make transactions

95 percent of the visitors came to the trade fair out of professional interest. The high proportion of decision-makers should be emphasized: More than half belong to the management or top management level, are owners and self-employed entrepreneurs. The willingness to invest has also increased compared to 2019. Thomas Knapp, Head of Sales Germany at Wacker Neuson, says: “I feel the local trade audience positively, so we were able to conduct high-quality discussions in a goal-oriented and, above all, result-oriented manner. We are pleased that we were here and will always come back to Karlsruhe. Nothing can be replaced by a trade fair except a trade fair, personal contact is difficult to depict digitally.” Carsten Obrecht, Managing Director at HS Schoch, adds: “The quality of visitors is very high, the most important decision-makers are there and concrete conclusions have already been completed.”

New demo formats and special areas inspire the professional audience

Extensive demo areas were arranged on the 90,000 square meter outdoor area of RecyclingAKTIV & TiefbauLIVE. Three-quarters of the exhibitors showed their products in full action – either at their own stand or on one of the five demo formats: the scrap & metal action area, the sample construction sites special civil engineering, sewer construction and electromobility in the Kompakt and GaLaBau as well as in the newly designed attachments arena. In total, visitors expected 24 hours of concentrated machine and plant technology spread over three days of the fair.

“The fair kept what it had promised in advance! For trade visitors, it was a concentrated trade fair in an absolutely professional setting. The live demos convince me the most – I can’t see anything like that digitally. And that’s exactly what makes measuring,” says Andreas Gruber, Head of Wood & Biomass at Zeller Recycling.

SBM Summit celebrates its premiere as part of the demo fair

The demand for climate-friendly building materials and sustainable solutions in the construction industry has risen rapidly in recent years. The participants learned what the construction of tomorrow can look like in concrete terms at the premiere of the SBM Summit (Sustainable Building Materials), which for the first time as a one-day congress for sustainable and ecological building materials for the construction and expansion of buildings on the 6th. May took place parallel to RecyclingAKTIV & TiefbauLIVE. In top-class lectures, architects, interior designers, civil engineers and manufacturers got to know the latest developments in sustainable construction and were able to exchange ideas intensively with industry colleagues in a casual atmosphere. Exchange was also offered by the accompanying material special show, in which materials researchers haptically presented the latest research results on site to the participants.

The participants are consistently satisfied with the premiere of the congress. Monika Meier, Managing Director of NeptuGmbH, says: “It is a totally beautiful, informative event that is incredibly important for everyone involved in construction. I am very satisfied with the program, it is very extensive and complex.” Sylvia Mitschele-Mörmann, freelance interior designer and vice-chairwoman of the bdia Landesverband Baden-Württemberg, adds: “This is where research, manufacturers and users meet to see how sustainable building materials of the future are being developed. The event is nicely familiar, you can network great.”
