Under the title “vhs 2030: Together in diversity. Sustainable. Networked” invites the German Adult Education Association (DVV) on the 20th and 21st. June 2022 to Europe’s largest continuing education congress in the KONGRESSHALLE at Leipzig Zoo. Guests from the approximately 900 adult education centers (vhs) and the state associations as well as from politics and business, science and further education are expected.
The program includes forums, workshops and discussion rounds on topics such as social cohesion and diversity, sustainability and digitization. The vhs community thus focuses on the central societal challenges, which on the one hand have a great influence on continuing education and in coping with it further education on the other hand makes indispensable contributions. The Adult Education Day also offers a forum to enter into dialogue with representatives of the Federal Government and explore how adult education can enable people to participate in times of change. At stands of the continuing education fair and in Speakers’ Corners, adult education centers, state associations and DVV will present outstanding practical examples on site and from project work.
For the second time after 2019, the DVV Institute for International Cooperation awards the Rita Sweet Truth Prize. The award is given to adult education centers that are particularly committed to international partnerships and networks. Prof. Dr. Rita Süssmuth presents the prizes together with Daniela Schneckenburger from the German City Council and Sylvia Groneick from the Federal Foreign Office.
At the opening of the 15th On the Volkshochschultags, there is a video message from Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier as well as personal greetings from Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, President of the German Adult Education Association, Saxony’s Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer and Leipzig’s Lord Mayor Burkhard Jung. If you are not personally present in Leipzig, you can follow large parts of the congress program in a free live stream.
