【CH】aqua pro 2022: success for the Swiss trade fair for the global water cycle

The 11th edition of aqua pro confirms the success of this meeting for professionals in the global water cycle. The show, which has just closed its doors after three days of exhibition from June 8 to 10 at Espace Gruyère in Bulle/FR, welcomed more than 4,200 professional visitors. Four specialized conference cycles and a densely occupied 5,500 m2 exhibition area are the key ingredients of this success, which allows the organizers to show great satisfaction. The 12th edition has already been announced for 2024.

“100 liters of water are needed to make an electronic chip. 10,000 liters for jeans, from growing the cotton to making it. Water is essential and the fight against its pollution must be at the heart of our concerns”. This was the reminder of Philippe Perritaz, president of the organizing committee of the aqua pro show, when welcoming the ambassador of this 11th edition, the skipper Yvan Bourgnon. Committed to the management of plastic waste that invades the oceans, he presented the Manta project led by his NGO The Seacleaners, which echoed the themes addressed by the seminars offered as part of the show.

Relevant conference cycles

Four cycles of conferences and debates, organized by the umbrella associations of the fields concerned and companies linked to the fields covered, followed one another and enjoyed strong attendance. This proves the relevance of the choices made, with priority themes in line with current needs and future challenges. Water distributors in Romandie dedicated their technical day to innovation. The French-speaking group of wastewater treatment plant operators (GRESE) took an interest in the climate impact of its activities, citing in particular laughing gas, a gas whose greenhouse effect is 300 times that of CO2 and whose production by WWTPs continues to increase. The treatment of phytosanitary products occupied the VSA (Swiss Association of Water Protection Professionals) and the Swiss Society for the Gas and Water Industry (SSIGE). For its part, InfraWatt (Association for the rational use of energy from waste water, district heating and drinking water) discussed the contribution of WWTPs to the objectives of Swiss climate policy.

Innovation Award

As with every edition, the aqua pro show awarded a prize to the best innovation in relation to the sectors represented in the show. The 2022 award went to Hach Lange, with its EZ7900 online wastewater toxicity analyzer and self-cleaning system. This device allows real-time monitoring of the toxicity of wastewater arriving at the WWTP. The jury of neutral and qualified experts, led by the president of the show’s organization, Philippe Perritaz, also awarded a Coup de Coeur prize to the company Swiss Intech SA for its solar-powered and sustainable Pumpilo pumps (details on the aqua-pro website .ch). With ten files submitted, competition was strong for this 2022 edition.

Given the significant success of this 11th edition of the reference show in Switzerland, and intended for professionals in the sector, the organizing committee and the Espace Gruyère team are now hard at work preparing the 12th aqua pro. . It will take place in 2024.
