Exhibitors of the trade fair are satisfied with the course / LASYS scores with high visitor quality
The seventh edition of LASYS ended on Thursday with a positive mood. In Mahle Hall 4 at the Stuttgart exhibition center, trade visitors from all over Europe informed themselves from a total of 93 exhibitors from 16 nations. The international share of exhibitors was 34 percent. LASYS has performed considerably in a strong market environment with many major events in May and June of this year. With its clear focus on laser material processing, LASYS was able to offer interested trade visitors an attractive market platform, says Roland Bleinroth, Managing Director of Messe Stuttgart.
Dr. Sven Breitung, Managing Director of the Working Group Laser and Laser Systems for Material Processing in the VDMA, summarizes the event as follows: “Our members and we felt very comfortable at LASYS. It was nice to finally meet and exchange ideas in person again. Regardless of this networking, the high proportion of visitors from abroad, which our members also registered at their stands, was very gratifying.”
Exhibitors report high-quality conversations
“Compact. Focused. Practical. This year, on average, a laser was seen in action at every second stand, the big plus of LASYS. Our exhibitors report on highly qualified trade visitors as well as detailed discussions at the fair, although as expected it was less frequented than last time. We are now working on the concept of the next LASYS. The topic of battery production will play a central role in the future,” says Gunnar Mey, Director of Fairs & Events at Messe Stuttgart.
The exhibitors at LASYS also drew a good conclusion. Markus Forytta, Head of Corporate Communications at the Fraunhofer Institute for Materials and Beam Technology IWS, was satisfied at the end of the trade fair: “For us, LASYS went very well due to the high-quality discussions. We also see the synergy effects of the parallel event of CastForge and SurfaceTechnology. Because in this way, we were also able to bring laser material processing closer to those trade fair visitors who had not yet come into contact with this topic.”
Steven Glover, COO, Laser Institute of America (LIA), is also satisfied: “For us as an international member association, LASYS was an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas personally with numerous members and make new contacts. After the last few years, this has been very important.”
Nikolas Meyer, Head of the Sales and Application Business Unit at EMAG LaserTec GmbH, agrees with the positive feedback: “We used our appearance at LASYS to increase the perception of our company as a manufacturer of laser machines with advanced applications for laser material processing. These applications include laser hardening or laser deposition welding, for example of coated brake discs. We have achieved this goal and were able to conduct high-quality discussions at our stand, which are always about concrete applications or Requests went. Fortunately, therefore, intensive trade fair follow-up is ahead of us.”
Visitor structure shows: A professionally qualified audience was at LASYS
The trade visitors of LASYS also have a high level of decision-making authority this year. Around a fifth belongs to the business/corporate and operational management. Just as many are active in development and about 16 percent in production, production and quality control. A very large proportion of 81 percent are decisive, decisive or advisory in purchasing decisions. Three quarters of them have a concrete investment or Purchase intention, 25 percent of those willing to buy plan to invest more than €200,000.
Almost three quarters of the trade audience come from industry and already use lasers or Laser systems in your own company – so use LASYS as a platform to inform yourself about the development of their systems and other application possibilities. The most represented industries include mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, plant and apparatus construction, the metal and processing industry as well as the optical industry. The trade audience was interested in all relevant applications and laser systems (for surface treatment, cutting, marking and marking and joining). In addition, the focus was on laser systems for additive manufacturing as well as beam sources. Overall, the visitors to LASYS agree: With a grade of 2.3, the LASYS is rated well on average. 85 percent of trade visitors are already planning to visit LASYS 2024.
Attractive supporting program is very popular
The trade audience also benefited from the supporting program of LASYS: In addition to the offer of the exhibitors, it offered comprehensive transfer of know-how on all three days. These traditionally included the Stuttgart Laser Days, which took place on the 21st and 22nd. June have taken place. Prof. Dr. Thomas Graf, Director of the Institute for Blasting Tools (IFSW) of the University of Stuttgart and organizer of the congress, says: “The 11th Stuttgart Laser Days have come to an end very successfully. The exciting conference program together with the pleasant ambience of LASYS offered the approximately 180 conference participants from research, development and industry both the right setting and the necessary space for active and successful networking – not least at the traditional SLT evening event at the Institute of Blasting Tools at the University of Stuttgart.”
In addition, for example, the EPIC Meeting on beam shaping, the expert lectures of the Scientific Society Lasertechnik e.V. (WLT) and the Solution Center with six laser institutes involved many opportunities for knowledge transfer between research and industry. The strongly practice-oriented specialist forum “Lasers in Action” directly in the exhibition hall and several subject-specific workshops and seminars rounded off the supporting program.
The next LASYS will take place from 04. to 06. June 2024 at the Stuttgart exhibition center.
