【DE】Restart for the international automotive aftermarket: Automechanika Frankfurt with high international participation, new technologies and innovations are the focus of the industry event

More than 2,600 exhibitors, 85% of whom are from abroad, are waiting for numerous new products at the upcoming Automechanika Frankfurt. The fact that the international aftermarket industry finally meets again this year is more important than ever – in view of the transformation and the current challenges such as the ongoing pandemic, the war in Ukraine, the energy crisis, climate change, supply chain problems and a shortage of semiconductor and skilled workers. New technologies and concepts for the mobility of the future will be shown and discussed on the internationally leading platform for the aftermarket, including in the special show ‘Innovation4Mobility’ and in entertaining lectures of the Automechanika Academy. Further education and networking are further focal points of the event in September.

In less than three months, Automechanika Frankfurt will reopen its doors to the international trade audience at the Frankfurt exhibition center. “I am pleased about the continued positive response from the exhibiting companies, who can finally show their new products to the international trade audience again. In total, we expect more than 2,600 exhibitors from 70 countries here in Frankfurt,” explains Olaf Mußhoff, Director Automechanika Frankfurt. “This means that Automechanika is and remains the most important and leading international industry platform for the entire automotive aftermarket.” This year’s top exhibiting nations include companies from Germany, Italy and Turkey.

As a neutral platform, the trade fair takes up current topics and trends such as new drive technologies, electromobility, connectivity, sustainability and increasing digitization in all areas of the aftermarket. For these topics, trade visitors will not only find innovative solutions at the fair, but the topics will also be presented and discussed in lectures.

Technologies, solutions and trends for the aftermarket of tomorrow

Automechanika Innovation Awards

The Automechanika Innovation Awards, which will take place this year on the 13th. September at Automechanika, not only impressively demonstrate the innovative power of the aftersales market, but also reflect the current trends in the industry.

The thematic range of 133 submissions from 99 exhibiting companies is extremely wide. It ranges from paint care products made from renewable raw materials, to recovery systems for vehicles with battery fires, to highly complex laser scanners that measure entire bodies in minutes. The trend towards the digitization of devices, tools, components and their networking with the IT systems of the workshops is unbroken. The future topics of new mobility and alternative drives are clearly visible in the submissions. The topic of sustainability is also driving the industry around: The expert Dr. Gerhard Angerer has recommended five finalists for the competition for the Green Award from the submissions.

The special show ‘Innovation4Mobility’, which presents forward-looking solutions for connected vehicles and climate-neutral mobility, offers an exciting lecture program. Experts from well-known players such as Audi, ADOBE, ABB Germany, Bosch, BPW Bergische Achsen, Boston Consulting Group, Ebay, Google Cloud, KEYOU, Fraunhofer ISE, INTIS, Schaeffler, Solaris and Toyota Mobility Foundation speak in key notes on the topics of connected cars and autonomous driving, electromobility, hydrogen and alternative fuels

Future Workshop 4.0

What does it look like in the workshop of the future? The special show Zukunftswerkstatt 4.0 provides exciting insights. The innovation showcase shows technologies, processes and business models of tomorrow. As a practice-oriented contact point for companies in the automotive industry, it offers trade visitors valuable impulses on how day-to-day business can be made more efficient and business models future-oriented. For this purpose, the structures of a classic car dealership operation are mapped realistically and practical. Along the customer journey, visitors can find out about innovative technologies and test them at ten selected stations.

Automechanika Supply Chain Management Day

Like OEMs in the automotive industry, aftermarket companies must not only meet the requirements for the highest possible cost efficiency and quality of service, but also take climate and environmental goals into account. This is not only about internal expenses for transport and logistics tasks, but also about external procurement and delivery transport. This highly topical topic will be examined in more detail at the first Automechanika Supply Chain Management Day. The interactive event invites on the 15th. September (in the Hall Europe in Hall 4) decision-makers, users and providers of innovative solutions in the supply chain and logistics of the automotive industry. In entertaining lectures and workshops, but also in the networking area, participants can inform themselves, make contacts and find cooperation partners. A highlight are the two disputes on the topic of “World Market vs. Weekly market” and “Make or Buy.”

Networking & Know-How Transfer

The networking of all trade fair participants is clearly in the foreground at this year’s fair. “After this long dry spell, the personal conversation is extremely important for our customers,” explains Olaf Mußhoff “that’s why we are organizing a CEO breakfast with key notes from Mika Häkkinen and Mark Gallagher on the first day of the fair for the first time. The two Formula 1 professionals will talk about the rapidly changing technological conditions, lean, agile leadership and the common spirit. This is a unique opportunity to meet the top management and association representatives of the independent automotive spare parts market in person.”

In addition, Automechanika offers networking lounges on different topics in several halls, which invite participants to meet and discuss with other industry experts with seating, a coffee bar and pop-up stands. Ebay, which is attending the industry event for the first time, invites you to the e-commerce lounge as the leading online marketplace for car parts and accessories. At the daily happy hour, which takes place in the evening both in the east and west of the site, exhibitors and visitors can end the day of the fair in a relaxed atmosphere with a glass of beer or wine and make new contacts.

Further education

Trade visitors can look forward to a wide-ranging program that introduces new technologies and in which experts discuss current trends.
