Almost 13 million visitors in 25 years of Messe Erfurt
Messe Erfurt GmbH celebrated its 25th anniversary on July 8, 2022 with invited guests, companions and partners in a narrow circle.
When the exhibition center was inaugurated in June 1997, many hopes were associated with this step. 25 years later, Messe Erfurt has established itself as the second largest trade fair location in the new federal states as a modern event center with top-equipped rooms that make every type of event possible,” Michael Kynast, Managing Director of Messe Erfurt GmbH, opened the ceremony event. Companions, partners, customers and service providers were invited guests to review the highlights of the past 25 years in a ceremony.
Since the opening of Messe Erfurt in 1997, more than 12.5 million visitors have been welcomed to 4,300 events. More than half of the visitors, a total of 6.4 million, came to trade fairs and exhibitions. Since 1997, more than 690 trade fairs and exhibitions have taken place at Messe Erfurt, in which almost 118,000 exhibitors were involved. At around 1,400 events, such as concerts or sporting events, almost 5 million visitors could be counted. Almost 1.2 million participants met at more than 2,100 meetings and conferences at Erfurter Messe since 1997 until today.
Successful own events such as the Green Days Thuringia, Horsebacking-Hunting or Rapid.Tech, as well as the diverse offers of the guest and concert organizers, have contributed to the success of Messe Erfurt. World stars such as the Backstreet Boys, Elton John, Aerosmith, Rammstein, Metallica, Bon Jovi, Limp Bizkit, P! nk, or Harry Belafonte have thrilled the audience. As part of the ZDF show “Wetten, dass…..!”, which took place six times in Erfurt, other artists such as Will Smith, Tokio Hotel, Cher and David Beckham were guests in the exhibition hall.
At the beginning of June, the new LÉGÈRE Hotel was also opened at the fair – another milestone in the history of the location. Already at the beginning of construction in 1997 there were plans for a hotel construction. “This makes everyone interested in the pleasure of having found a hotel investor all the greater who has stuck to the project even under the difficult conditions of recent months,” reports Michael Kynast.
