After more than 500 exhibitors for gamescom 2022 were announced at the beginning of July – including KRAFTON, Level Infinite (Tencent) and HoYoverse, some top international companies that will be present for the first time with a stand in the entertainment area – further information now follows: More exhibitors have been added since last week, bringing their total number to over 550. The proportion of foreign companies is over 70 percent, with 27 country pavilions now registered. More and more companies outside the games industry also want to use gamescom to present new partnerships with gaming brands and get in touch with the unique community. Exhibitors and sponsors include LEGO, McDonald’s Germany, MINI and Porsche & Puma. In the gamescom event arena, AMD, Funcom and ESL Gaming/ Qualcomm will each provide entertainment with their own diverse program on different days. Numerous creator agencies and hundreds of talents have already registered for gamescom.

gamescom event arena: Four days featuring a varied entertainment program

One of the highlights of gamescom 2022 is the gamescom event arena. To ensure that it is located right in the heart of gamescom, it will open in Hall 6. For four days, fans can come and go without an additional ticket and experience the various events at will. Among other things planned are:

Thursday: A huge event that will be an epic celebration of metal music, produced by Funcom and The Outsiders, developers of upcoming rhythm shooter “Metal: Hellsinger”

 

Friday: Various creator activations from and with AMD

Saturday and Sunday: Snapdragon Pro Series mobile esports tournaments hosted by ESL Gaming and Qualcomm

The big opening show gamescom: Opening Night Live, for which tickets go on sale at the beginning of August, will kick off the event arena on Tuesday evening.

 

gamescom X creators: A shared success story

Creators and gamescom have belonged together since the beginning and have grown ever stronger since. This year, the Creator offering at gamescom will be expanded even further.

For the first time, there will be a dedicated creator co-working space. This is intended to provide creators at gamescom with the best possible support for their work. In the area, which is only accessible to creators and their teams, there will be, among other things: 100 workstations, high-speed internet connection, streaming booths, rest and meeting areas, a snack and beverage offering, checkroom, lockers and much more. The confirmed participation of hundreds of creators and their agencies from numerous countries around the world shows that this offer is well received.

 

With the central theme “Games: The Heart of Pop Culture”, this year’s gamescom will focus on the particularly high cultural relevance of computer and video games. After all, games are not only the most successful entertainment medium of our time, but have also become the heart of pop culture, on which others are increasingly taking their cue. Whereas in the past there was the movie to go with the book, today there is the book to go with the game, fashion to go with the game, and even dance to go with the game. In short, anyone who inspires the games community today will inspire the whole world tomorrow. The “Next Generation of Mobile Gaming” trend picks up on the current developments of smartphones as a gaming platform. After all, the devices are so good today that significantly more elaborate games are possible. More and more well-known game series are also getting their own mobile versions, reaching additional millions of players. And with the help of cloud gaming, favorite PC and console games can continue to be played seamlessly on the smartphone while on the move. More power and more sophisticated games for mobile devices are also driving the mobile esports trend. The fact that computer and video games are increasingly being used for mental health is picked up by the “Healthy through Games” trend. With “Wholesome Games,” a genre of its own has become very popular, focusing on games that help to relax and slow down everyday life thanks to their relaxed style. In addition, computer and video games are increasingly being used in therapies, for example to help pain patients, alleviate the effects of dementia or support children with ADHD.
