Strong growth in the issuer numbers 2022 / Great international importance of VISION
After a successful trade fair last year, the Messe Stuttgart team builds on the positive mood. From the 4th to the 6th In October 2022, VISION, the world’s leading trade fair for image processing, opens its doors at the Stuttgart exhibition center.
Positive development of the industry
The image processing industry is developing dynamically and is becoming increasingly important. The prospects for VISION 2022 are therefore promising and expectations are high. We are pleased to announce the industry for the 30th. edition of the world’s leading trade fair for image processing here in Stuttgart. After numerous restrictions due to COVID-19, VISION 2022 is Messe Stuttgart’s first own event, which again has a special international significance,” says Roland Bleinroth, Managing Director of Messe Stuttgart.
Anne Wendel, VDMA Machine Vision Division in the VDMA Robotics + Automation Association, underlines the development of the image processing industry: “The robotics and automation industry and especially the industrial image processing industry records full order books. According to the VDMA market survey, sales of 17 percent was recorded in the European machine vision industry in 2021. Despite lower expectations due to disturbed supply chains, the forecasts for 2022 are positive. The VDMA forecasts predict an increase of 5 percent and sales of 3.2 billion euros for the German industrial image processing industry. For the entire robotics and automation, growth of 6 percent is expected to be 14.4 billion euros. This gives us a positive view of the upcoming VISION 2022.”
Over three days, visitors from all over the world meet with start-ups and key players at VISION. The focus is above all on exchange and knowledge transfer. Currently, more than 300 companies – and thus already more than last year – have registered for VISION 2022. The current registration status and reservations show the great popularity of the industry. Overall, we expect the number of exhibitors to grow by around 25 percent by October compared to the previous year,” says Florian Niethammer, Head of Trade Fairs & Events at Messe Stuttgart.
Fresh wind through new companies
In addition to national and international key players, Messe Stuttgart welcomes many new players this year. Around 17 percent of registered companies are part of VISION 2022 for the first time. Including Beckhoff Automation GmbH & Co. KG. “After the long time without face-to-face trade fairs, we are looking forward to the lively exchange with the image processing experts,” says Bernd Stöber, Senior Product Manager Vision at Beckhoff Automation GmbH & Co. KG. He continues: “Our solution approach based on PC-based controls already covers a wide range of applications. With new innovative vision products and functions, we are once again significantly expanding the field of application of our platform. We want to present this to the market. Which event would be better suited for this than the world’s leading trade fair for image processing – the VISION.”
The increasing number of exhibitors is also reflected in the area used. Once again, the VISION takes place in the Paul Horn Halle (Hall 10) and the Alfred Kärcher Halle (Hall 8), but the two halls are about a quarter more occupied compared to 2021: On 25,000 square meters, everything revolves around the topic of image processing.
High internationality of exhibitors
The high international importance of the world’s leading trade fair VISION is already reflected in the international share among exhibitors: After the ratio of national and international exhibitors was almost balanced in 2021, the foreign share for 2022 is currently 56 percent. The VISION world’s leading trade fair is thus developing again towards well-known structures. This year, exhibiting companies from the USA are particularly well represented, followed by Japan, China, the Netherlands and Switzerland. The positive mood of the exhibitors can be clearly heard. This is also the case with the camera provider Vieworks from South Korea. Janice Lee, Sales Manager at Vieworks: “We have been exhibiting at VISION for several years. Due to COVID-19, we were unable to attend the fair in 2021. This makes us all the more pleased to be there again in 2022 and to meet our customers personally at VISION, to present our products and technologies and to get to know the latest market trends. The image processing fair in Stuttgart has unsurpassed international significance.”
Trending topics image processing
Image processing is on the rise. New trending topics take over the field and artificial intelligence has become indispensable. This is also the case at the VISION world’s leading trade fair. In view of the technical developments, Florian Niethammer is convinced that VISION offers the right solutions for countless user industries: “At VISION 2022, it will be exciting to see what new possibilities the topic of hyperspectral imaging offers, where the trend topics of AI and deep learning are going and what new developments in the field of embedded vision and 3D will be visible.”
Components and systems for different industries
The exhibiting companies show what opportunities image processing offers for different industries – including the medical and pharmaceutical industries, the food and beverage industry, transport technology and infrastructure, retail and retail, the automotive and supplier industry, mechanical and plant engineering and logistics. In addition to components, powerful image processing systems will be presented at VISION. The Swiss company Compar is also represented among the system providers 2022. For Stefan Basig, Marketing & Sales Manager at Compar, the world’s leading trade fair has a special meaning: “For our industry, the image processing fair VISION stands for a clear vision. Over 3 days, everything revolves around technology trends, product highlights and knowledge transfer. For several years, we have been using the platform to deepen our knowledge in the field of machine vision. As a system integrator, it is particularly important for us to present sophisticated and cost-effective systems to potential customers and to support them in selecting efficient solutions from a wide range of products. It is not words that should convince, but the systems themselves. After all, VISION is all about seeing and experiencing everything for yourself.”
