【DE】f-cell PRE EVENT: Focus on innovations

Contribution to the Week of Hydrogen South / HEE Technologies GmbH wins PrePitch Challenge

In October 2022, the hydrogen and fuel cell community will meet at f-cell in Stuttgart. Last Thursday, 30. June, the f-cell PRE EVENT was on the agenda as an intermediate stage. As part of the Week of Hydrogen South, Messe Stuttgart welcomed numerous players from the scene together with CODE_n, de:hub Stuttgart and e-mobil BW. Jürgen Stein, Chief Innovation Officer at EnBW, opened the evening with his keynote “Hydrogen innovations from the perspective of an energy company.” “It is exactly the time to discuss everything about hydrogen and the fuel cell in Germany much more intensively,” Stein said in the evening. “This is exactly what happens at f-cell in October, you will find out there what innovations and technical ideas are currently emerging, which start-ups are coming along. The scene in Germany is still small, but this will experience a dynamic in the next few years. I am firmly convinced of that. So it’s wise to be part of f-cell.”

Know-how transfer in pre- pitch challenge and panel lectures

Subsequently, various speakers presented their company and their innovations and applications in the fields of hydrogen and fuel cells in two panels. Another highlight of the evening: the PrePitch Challenge. Several start-ups got a stage here to present their solutions and technologies to the industry. The jury named Michael Schmitz from HEE Technologies GmbH the winner of the evening. The Cologne-based start-up, which develops fuel cell systems for stationary applications, can now look forward to a stand space at f-cell in Stuttgart in October.

Dr.-Ing. Michael Schmitz, Director Sales & Business Development at HEE Technologies GmbH, is looking forward to the trade fair with conference: “Stuttgart is the headquarters of innovation in Baden-Württemberg. Here are many high-tech companies, but also many traditional companies that certainly have to change. At the same time, we need more start-ups. At f-cell, we should discuss how small, medium-sized companies or start-ups are more involved and how they can work with large companies. A visit to the f-cell is important in order to keep up to date and not lose touch. Everything that is important meets there and the exchange, the contacts that can be made there are very important.”

Further voices from f-cell PRE EVENT

Stefan Dwenger, Director Product Engineering, EKPO Fuel Cell Technologies GmbH:

“From my point of view, it is important to discuss the topic of hydrogen in Stuttgart, because there are many suppliers here in our region who can offer very good products in the field of fuel cells, such as the EKPO. I believe that we will discuss scaling fuel cell solutions at f-cell in October. The topic will become very important because hydrogen will continue to gain in importance and thus there will also be a demand for fuel cell solutions. I believe that personal exchange and conversation with each other – especially at events such as f-cell – cannot be replaced.”

Florian Weil, Head of Development & Innovation, Weil Technology GmbH:

“We can only create an alternative to fossil fuels together. The state of Baden-Württemberg and the Stuttgart location offer the best conditions here. At f-cell in October, we will discuss a variety of different applications, from stationary applications to the aviation sector, but certainly also mobile applications, for example in trucks. Especially at the trade fair in connection with the conference, you can get the best information in the field of hydrogen, from production to transport and the use of hydrogen.”

Uwe Kerkmann, Managing Director, H2UB GmbH:

The topic of hydrogen and fuel cells is currently a highly topical, almost explosive topic. Hydrogen will have to play a role in energy supply, industry and mobility, because not everything works with electricity, battery or electric drive. For this, partners have to come together and that’s exactly what f-cell is ideal for. The hydrogen economy with its different components of the generation, storage, distribution and use value chain is complex. This virtually forces people from different industries to have to talk to each other. A trade fair is always the best opportunity for this.”
