The INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR (IEM) is on track for a successful event in September 2022 after two years of pandemic-related cancellations and postponements. German and European providers are strongly represented and the field of participants can also be seen beyond the European continent. At a time when supply chains are rearranging, the IEM is thus the perfect place to find new partners. The EISENWARENMESSE @home offers networking opportunities beyond the visit to Cologne – even with providers who could not exhibit in Cologne, but have booked a digital participation on the @home platform.
“We are very satisfied with how the event currently looks. We had to cope with some cancellations, but we also see amazing developments in the European market, for example, such as enormous increase in space from Turkey. Germany, Southern and Eastern Europe as well as the Netherlands perform as usual strong. And India is also at a stable booking level. All segments will be found at the IEM in the usual quality,” says Matthias Becker, Director of IEM.
The IEM 2022 is the first opportunity for the industry to get an overall overview and finally meet a large number of business partners in person again. Buyers and sales representatives are already looking forward to the event – with EDRA/GHIN, BHB, BME and the ZHH, large associations are firmly at the side of the IEM. The increased visitor quality has already become clear at other events since Re-Start: “We see across all industries that those who make their way to our trade fairs are equipped with very clear goals and a lot of decision-making competence,” says Matthias Becker.
Digitalization enables new ways
Due to ongoing travel restrictions, many Asian companies will have to suspend again in 2022. But if possible, they send their products and trust their representatives from other continents to present them. Or they are breaking new ground: For the first time, remote stands are used, where the products are exhibited on site in Cologne, but the contact persons are connected digitally.
Koelnmesse has also found a new solution for visitors who cannot arrive: If you want, you can book industry-savvy “fair scouts.” They either take the visitor on a virtual tour of the exhibition center with the appropriate equipment or look at products on a briefing and are already having their first discussions. The INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR thus becomes a truly hybrid event – not only through the new EISENWARENMESSE @home platform. On this, for example, missed events can also be watched later on demand. At the heart of however, however, is networking and especially the so-called Discovery Graph: It suggests contacts that fit your own profile. From the 1st August exhibitors can maintain their profiles at the EISENWARENMESSE @home, from the 12th. September, visitors will also have access after purchasing tickets.
eCommerce Area fully booked
Highlight event in 2022 is the long-planned and finally implemented eCommerce Area, curated by rock star Michael Atug. The Expo around shop systems, ERP, electronic payment, hosting or search engine optimization will take place during the IEM on the 27th and 28th. September 2022 and is fully booked with over 30 providers. Among other things, eBay, Facebook, DHL & Shopware will be there – a must for everyone who is interested in the digitization of the industry.

(ZHH) are once again looking for outstanding inventions in the three categories “Innovation”, “Design/Ergonomics” and “Sustainability.” On the first day of the fair of the INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR on 25.09.2022 at 10.00 a.m. in the EISENforum, the winners will be chosen. Registration deadline for exhibitors is 02.09.2022.
