【DE】Climate-fit for the future together: GaLaBau 2022 for the first time with a focus topic

GaLaBau, the leading international trade fair for urban greenery and open spaces, returns from the 14th to the 17th. September 2022 back to the Nuremberg Exhibition Center and attracts the industry with current trend topics, exciting innovations and a colorful program. The green family reunion has a special novelty in its luggage: For the first time, a central element connects the 14 exhibition halls, in which the complete offer for the planning, construction and maintenance of gardens, parks and green areas is shown. “Together climate-fit for the future” is this year’s focus topic, which is dedicated in a special way to the challenges of climate protection, and becomes visible at the fair as THE GREEN-BLUE PATH. Stefan Dittrich, Head of GaLaBau at NürnbergMesse, and Lutze von Wurmb, President of the Bundesverband Garten-, Landschafts- und Sportplatzbau e.V. (BGL), which is the ideal carrier of GaLaBau, explains the background in an interview and gives insights into the preparations around the focus topic.

Mr. Dittrich, you recently called on the GaLaBau exhibitors to apply with suitable products and solutions on the focus topic “Together climate-fit in the future”. Which submissions have you already received?

Stefan Dittrich: Our expert jury, consisting of representatives of the BGL, the Association of German Landscape Architects (bdla), municipal representatives and representatives of NürnbergMesse is impressed by the innovative submissions of the exhibitors and has already approved many great projects and solutions. They cover the entire exhibition area of GaLaBau from planning to construction to the maintenance of urban, green and open spaces. To name just a few examples: Visitors can look forward to innovations around the use of 100% recyclable materials, resource-saving production and product use, saving CO2 along the value chain, environmentally friendly drive types, low-emission solutions and zero emission, climate-friendly trees and durable products. As an exhibitor, do you also offer innovative products or solutions on these or other topics in the field of “Together climate-fit into the future”? Are you showing great commitment in this area and are thus a pioneer within the green industry? Then apply now as a station of the GREEN-BLUE PATH! All information on the application can be found at: www.galabau-messe.com/gruen-blauer-pfad

Mr von Wurmb, why is this topic so important for the green industry and thus rightly a focus topic at GaLaBau 2022? What contribution does the GaLaBau industry make to climate protection?

Lutze von Wurmb (LvW): The green industry has absolute systemic relevance when it comes to climate and species protection. More well-kept greenery for cities, more and more suitable trees as bulwarks against the effects of climate change and for species protection, roof and facade green professionally combined with solar panels, climate-stable plants and sustainable, resource-saving garden concepts – we have been dealing intensively with these trends for years. Our landscape gardeners show that sustainability, biodiversity, climate protection and at the same time aesthetic, well-kept gardens and parks are not contradictory. On the contrary, we are there to combine these apparent contrasts professionally and future-oriented. More than 20 years ago, we as BGL already started our private garden campaign, which today also includes “Save the front garden” and “My dream garden”. Since 2015, the BGL initiative “Green in the City” has reached several thousand decision-makers in the cities and municipalities. These are all BGL initiatives that contribute to the topic of climate protection. As an interest group, we are of course also an important driver at federal level and towards politics. Specifically, we demand: every year the green billion for public green and also significantly more speed and activity in the creation and maintenance of more urban greenery. We are very pleased that the focus topic at GaLaBau 2022 is now generated even more attention for this and that access to innovations in this area is facilitated.

Mr. Dittrich, how will the focus topic appear in concrete terms at the fair?

Stefan Dittrich: The focus topic is an essential part of the entire trade fair event and is therefore of course also given special attention in terms of design. High attention and maximum visibility is our goal: The new GREEN-BLUE PATH therefore presents the topic tangible on site and offers all visitors visual orientation. For example, special flags at the exhibitors’ exhibition stands draw attention to the fact that products and solutions on the topic of “Together climate-fit into the future” can be seen here. In addition, for example, the corresponding lectures in the various forums, the E-Mobility Area in the action area or the World Urban Parks Europe Congress are also program elements along the GREEN-BLUE PATH. In the trade fair companion, in our exhibitor and product database, in the program overview on our website and in the app, all exhibitors, lectures and supporting program items are marked with the seal of the GREEN-BLUE PATH in color – the topic will in any case not be overlooked in advance communication and on site.
