The submissions for the Innovation Awards of Automechanika Frankfurt clearly reflect the upheaval in the aftermarket towards digital and smart solutions. 14 international jury members, including experts from Australia, South Africa, Turkey, the UK and the USA, decided on the 21st. July about which of the 133 submissions will be awarded by 99 companies.
The independent jury of experts has now selected the best products and divided them into three prize gradations: “Nominee”, for innovative products and solutions, “Finalist” for outstanding technological innovations and “Winner” for first place winners.
In the end, 96 nominees were selected and 35 finalists. Which companies are among the winners of the coveted Innovation Awards will only be at the festive award ceremony on the 13th. September, at 5 p.m., in the Harmony Hall of the Congress Center at Automechanika.

The thematic range of submissions is extremely wide this year. It ranges from recovery systems for vehicles with battery fires, to radar-assisted cornering assistants for trucks, to highly complex laser scanners that measure entire bodies in minutes. The trend towards digitization has continued to pick up speed, around a third of submissions come from this area. The future topics of new mobility, alternative drives and sustainability are also clearly visible in the applications,” says Dr. Gerhard Angerer, expert of the Innovation Awards.
The companies from the automotive aftermarket were able to apply in the following categories: electromobility, data & networking, workshop & service solutions, parts & innovative technologies, body & paint, vehicle washing & care, accessories & individualization, commercial vehicles. You can also look forward to the winner of the Green Award. According to the recommendation of Dr. Angerer, five of the finalists enter the race for the Sustainability Award, which will also be awarded at the award ceremony at Automechanika Frankfurt.
For the first time, the jury of representatives of associations, industry, trade, science and media was expanded to include international aftermarket experts. The submitted products were evaluated according to the criteria of innovation performance and excellence of the solution, economy, user benefit, functionality and ease of use, market potential and relevance for the aftersales market, quality, durability and safety, sustainability, energy efficiency, climate protection, environmental protection and resource conservation.
