International exhibition for metalworking / flagship of Messe Stuttgart starts with fully occupied halls and two anniversaries
Starting signal for the International Exhibition for Metalworking (AMB), Messe Stuttgart’s largest own event after the lockdown. This is synonymous with a fully booked exhibition center, exhibitors and professional guests from all over the world and the big curtain for one of the key industries in Baden-Württemberg.
AMB 2022 is officially opened with the belt cutting: Markus Heseding, Managing Director of VDMA Präzisionswerkzeuge, Baden-Württemberg’s Minister of Economic Affairs Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, Trade Fair Managing Director Roland Bleinroth, Dr. Wilfried Schäfer, Managing Director Association of German Machine Tool Factories, Trade Fair Managing Director Stefan Lohnert and Prof. Claus Oetter, Managing Director of the VDMA Association for Software and Digitalization (from left)

The Baden-Württemberg Minister of Economic Affairs, Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, did not miss the opportunity to open the AMB and cut the mandatory volume together with representatives of the sponsoring associations and the two Stuttgart trade fair directors. Baden-Württemberg is by far the leading region of the machine tool and precision tool industry in Europe and Germany. Our machine builders and factory equipment suppliers are actively working on the realization of intelligent, climate-neutral and resource-efficient production processes. For this, AMB 2022 offers an excellent presentation platform with international appeal,” said Hoffmeister-Kraut.
Roland Bleinroth, Managing Director of Messe Stuttgart, welcomed the exhibitors, visitors and journalists to the exhibition center: “The AMB is celebrating two anniversaries this year: In 1982, 40 years ago, the first AMB took place. This year we can celebrate the 20th. Celebrate the edition of this international trade fair. AMB was and is the industry platform for mechanical and plant engineering, one of the important key technologies in Baden-Württemberg, with a focus on machine tools and precision tools.”
The sponsoring associations are also confident. Markus Heseding, Managing Director of VDMA Precision Tools and VDMA Measurement and Testing Technology, is looking forward to the five days of the fair: “Finally it starts again! The exhibitors from the precision tool industry and measurement technology come to AMB with many innovative solutions for the sustainable production of tomorrow to present them to their customers in a personal conversation.”
For Prof. Claus Oetter, Managing Director of the VDMA Association of Software and Digitalization, the focus is clear: “We are represented in Stuttgart as an ideal carrier of AMB, as it is becoming increasingly important that the metalworking industry deals with digital trend topics and technologies in the future. We are currently dealing with two important topics: cybersecurity and platform economy. We are therefore looking forward to an exciting exchange together with visitors and exhibitors at the AMB.”
Dr. Wilfried Schäfer, Managing Director Association of German Machine Tool Factories e. V. (VDW), looks positively at the fair: “Despite the difficult framework conditions in the run-up to the AMB, I am expected that the mood of this year’s edition will be good. We hope for numerous visitors, full halls and great conversations. The conditions for this are in any case met.”
