FISCH&FEINES and CRAFT BEER EVENT offer firm and liquid delicacies
When people stroll through the ÖVB Arena and exhibition halls 2 and 3 with a shining eye, get a taste of it, taste there, shop there – then the most enjoyable days at MESSE BREMEN are in full swing. At FISCH&FEINES and the associated CRAFT BEER EVENT, good food and drink can be found in hardly manageable abundance. Time for a stroll this year is from Friday to Sunday, 4th to 6th. November.

“Fish and seafood have always played a leading role at the fair,” says Julia Schröder, project manager at MESSE BREMEN. In front of the ÖVB Arena, an exhibitor smokes live trout, inside the fish cooking studio Bremerhaven processes sea fish and good oils into delicate dishes in cooking shows. On trade fair Sunday, interested parties bid on freshly caught plaice and other species at reasonable prices at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Fish is not for everyone. But meat lovers will not be disappointed either – for example, they can taste Biltong for the first time. The dried meat does not come from South Africa like the original, but from species-appropriate cattle in the northern German lowlands. Vegetables, cheese, spices and delicatessen such as chutneys, mustards or sauces are also available in a large selection. What unites all products: They are predominantly handmade and have undergone a strict quality inspection. “This distinguishes us from comparable trade fairs in the north,” says Julia Schröder.
Many stalls have enjoyed great popularity for years. However, the numerous companies that are there for the first time may be particularly interesting for regular guests of the Genussmesse. Still unfamiliar: Food from insects, which are considered an important source of food for the future due to their high protein content. But in sweet? A Brandenburg ice cream manufacturer recommends dried migratory locusts or mealworms for the first time in Bremen as a crunch topping for its ice cream creations, for less daring people mixed into its base varieties. A small Bremen company, on the other hand, which previously roasted grills for snacks, has a spread sausage in the style of the Palatinate liver sausage in its program for the first time.
In addition to the many traditional, unusual and forward-looking treats, organic juices or iced teas can be enjoyed, for example. The range of wines is very large – including natural wines produced with spontaneous fermentation of wild yeast. Visitors also have a lot of choice over beer. Craft breweries, for example, give Pils and Maibock at the CRAFT BEER EVENT in Hall 3. In addition, there are rarer varieties such as red beer, India Pale Ale or honey beer. Then you could approve an aniseed liqueur, a novel tonic syrup or other high-percentage.
The wide gastronomic offer provides the good basis before the grip on the glass. It can be found under the roof and in front of Hall 3. On street food trucks, classic beef burgers, vegetarian and vegan alternatives or fish and chips are available.
