Erfurt Agricultural Fair Green Days Thuringia 2022 shows the entire spectrum of the green industry

 

On the last weekend of September 2022, the three Erfurt exhibition halls will again be filled with a lot of life by the agricultural fair Green Days Thuringia. The range of topics presented by companies, associations and ministries ranges from nutrition, horticulture and plant production to agricultural machinery, forestry, animal husbandry and husbandry to beekeeping, bioenergy, renewable raw materials, rural development and nature conservation.

 

Hall 1 is all about education, nutrition, organic farming and horticulture. Participate directly and learn more about the Thuringian organic industry, it is said at the stand of Thüringer Ökoherz e.V. In the organic information mile, the organic farming associations introduce themselves. This year’s focus is on the topic of educational offers for children and young people. The Biohof Scharf from Ollendorf and the Erfurt Dachgemüse Initiative make their educational work tangible for visitors. Sustainability is very important on the action area. During joint upcycling, new treasures are created from old food packaging. With great recipe ideas for recycling leftovers, food waste is also called for the fight, because vegetable leftovers are not only something for organic waste.

 

In Hall 2, the Thuringian Ministry of the Environment informs about ways to make everyday life more environmentally friendly, for example through gardening in the city (urban gardening). It shows how to redesign window sills, balconies and gardens with little effort – for more biodiversity and healthy self-sufficiency. At the stand of the ministry, awareness is also made for the repair and re-use of technical equipment and it is shown how new everyday objects can be created from old things by means of upcycling. In addition, tricks and tricks are shown in the Repair Café to help technical devices with little repair effort to live a second life. At the end of the upcycling competition “SpiceUp your Schrott” Environment Minister Anja Siegesmund will be on Saturday, the 24th. September, 4 p.m. award the best results.

 

During the Green Days Thuringia, there will be three different animal show competitions that will be held in exhibition halls 2 and 3: the 16th Bundesschau Galloway of the Bundesverband Deutscher Galloway-Züchter e.V., the Bundesschau des Verband Deutscher Welsh Black-Züchter und Halter e.V. and for the first time the Mitteldeutsche Jungzüchterwettbewerb with Fleischrind- und Milchrind-JungzüchterInnen (6- to 24-year-olds) from Saxony,

 

The Central German Young Breeders’ Competition offers the breeders of tomorrow the perfect opportunity to prove their skills. In the small ring of Hall 2, the animal evaluation will take place on Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Saturday is the Central German type animal competition from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. the Central German demonstration competition.

 

On all three days of the fair, the 16th Federal show Galloway 90 Galloway cattle shown in the ring. With the variety of colors from black, white, red to belted, the breeders show the whole range of the Galloway meat beef breed. Originally, the breed comes from the southwest of Scotland and is now widespread all over the world. Galloways are peaceful, frugal and resistant. They also bring good meat performance with excellent meat quality when kept close to nature. The galloway type, head, hair coat, trunk depth, skeleton (gang, claws, pelvis fermentalable or light calf in cows), muscleing, udder and development of the calf in cows, age-appropriate development compared to each other and feed utilization are evaluated for the Federal Show.

 

Nine farms with 25 animals come to the Bundesschau Welsh Black. Among them are cows with calves, young cattle as well as young and old bulls. In addition, nine young breeders with Welsh Black cattle also compete in the joint young breeder competition with the Galloway young breeders. Welsh Black cattle come from the southwest of the British Isles. Due to this landscape with a rough climate and often barren grassland locations, a cattle with the best conditions for year-round pasture or External posture. In Germany, this breed has been bred since the beginning of the 1980s.

 

The breeding competitions within the framework of the Green Days Thuringia honor the profession of breeders, cattle husbandry itself and regional production.
