Conference ITHEC focuses on thermoplastic composite materials

The demands on production processes and components are constantly growing. They should be more sustainable, versatile, cheaper and at the same time lighter. For this reason, more and more industries are relying on the development and use of so-called thermoplastic composites (composites). Their advantage: They can be softened and transformed even at high temperatures without chemical modification. This makes them particularly interesting for the aerospace or automotive sectors.

On the 12th and 13th October 2022, leading representatives of the international lightweight construction industry will meet in Bremen (c)M3B GmbH/Jan Rathke

Since 2012, leading scientists, researchers and entrepreneurs from Europe, Asia and America have been meeting at the International Conference and Exhibition on Thermoplastic Composites (ITHEC) at the Congress Centrum Bremen and MESSE BREMEN to present and discuss novelties and current research results in the field. After the biennial symposium with accompanying exhibition 2020 very successfully overcame the pandemic as a virtual edition, the organizers continue the begun path of digitization. On Wednesday and Thursday, 12th and 13th October 2022, they present the 6th ITHEC as a hybrid event. With the help of an interactive, digital platform, participants can access all content regardless of time and location – before, during and after the event.

With over 60 scientific lectures and poster presentations, almost 50 exhibitors, partners and sponsors as well as the expected 400 participants, ITHEC offers a comprehensive program. At its core, the symposium and exhibition are aimed at representatives from the aerospace and automotive industries. However, the use of lightweight thermoplastic components is also relevant for the energy sector, the medical or logistics sector. This year’s accompanying exhibition will be supplemented by the special area “Additive Manufacturing”, which includes, among other things, 3D printing. The two-day conference is rounded off by a panel discussion on the topic of drugs & thermoplastics.

In 2012, ITHEC was the world’s first conference with an accompanying trade fair in its sector and continues to be the leading industry event. For the orientation, CONGRESS BREMEN cooperates with the Faserinstitut Bremen e.V. at the University of Bremen, support also comes from well-known industrial partners.
