On the Große Elbstraße, REWE opens its pirate village for the young guests. Here, the kids immerse themselves in an adventure world with a ship swing, climbing garden and roller slide. The little pirates learn to tie sailor knots and can ride on a rodeo cannonball. The pirate show offers a colorful spectacle. Children’s Festival – The Search for Atlantis

The association for the promotion of youth work “Falkenflitzer” invites kids to a children’s party under the motto “The Secret of Atlantis”. On Saturday and Sunday, children between the ages of four and 14 can register from 10 a.m. on the meadow on the St. Michaeli’s church embarked on an exciting and action-packed search for the missing Atlantis. On the so-called “Michelwiese” there are also bouncy castles, a roller slide, a hydraulic construction site, a movement course, a make-up stand and various craft projects on the subject of Atlantis. For example, the children can build the inhabitants of Atlantis as large cardboard figures.

Gripping insights into traditional seafaring

At the German Port Museum, the Förderverein imparts seafaring knowledge and interesting information about the traditional seamanship on Saturday and Sunday between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Thus, the crew of the Besanewer “Melpomene” built in 1895 in Hansahafen brings children and young people closer to maritime craftsmanship with hands-on offer on board. Children aged six to twelve can obtain a port patent on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the German Port Museum.

With a free audio guide, children from the age of eight can go on a discovery tour of the museum harbor. Around 45 minutes of ship and port history, entertainingly packed in 20 chapters, give a lively insight into the technical transformation of shipping and reveal the individual character of the ships and exhibits in Oevelgönne.

The secrets of Morsealphabet and knot science

In addition to the event areas for kids, there are also numerous other program items aimed specifically at children and young people. On Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m., the volunteer radio operators of the “Cap San Diego” welcome the little sailors on board the museum ship and familiarize them with the Morse alphabet. As a reward, there is a radio certificate for the offspring. Knotists of the German Navy introduce the young guests to the secrets of the sailor’s knots from the cross node to the Palstek at the Bundeswehr stand on the Overseas Bridge.

Invitation to visit on board

A special highlight for young and large “adventurers” is the open ship campaign. Because numerous floating guests from tall ships to modern emergency vehicles from various institutions to museum ships participate and invite you to visit them on board. This allows kids to board historic sailing ships, stand at the wheel or take a look into the engine room of a sea rescue cruiser.

Children’s finder as a free service

If parents have lost sight of their child at the PORT BIRTHDAY HAMBURG, the free “Children’s Finder” service will help. Special children’s bracelets are issued at the stands on the Colorful Harbor Mile and at the information point, on which parents can write down their child’s name and telephone number. This action helps to bring child and parents back together faster.
