The run on study places, vacancies and apprenticeships for short-term decision-makers in the Maimarkthalle Mannheim has begun – Around 300 exhibitors inform and advise until Saturday – Admission free
Despite the rain, numerous people flocked from buses and trains on Thursday morning to find out about job profiles and perspectives at the Jobs for Future – Trade Fair for Jobs, Education and Training, Studies. The school classes, which traditionally storm the Maimarkthalle on the first day, are joined by professionals and students during the day. Until Saturday evening, around 300 exhibitors will inform people in all phases of professional life. The fair is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
“Training is the beginning of a path that has many intersections and makes many things possible,” said Yvonne Dintelmann, Nursing Director at the University Hospital Mannheim, at the panel discussion on the occasion of the official opening. Gabriele Ritter, team leader career guidance at the Mannheim Employment Agency, referred to 1,200 currently registered open apprenticeships in 80 professions from numerous industries – which interested parties can find out about at the Jobs for Future at the employment agency stand. Discussions with trainees and students at the exhibition stands and internships in companies would help young people find out where they would feel comfortable – “this is only possible at a face-to-face trade fair,” clarified Christiane Ram, who moderated the panel discussion as head of the Mannheim Economic and Structural Development.
During the subsequent tour, the guests of honor were able to convince themselves of what the trainees had to convey to future colleagues at the stands: They demonstrated medical prostheses and models of conveyor systems and a self-made racing car, showed surgical cutlery and told about everyday police life.
On Friday and Saturday, numerous short lectures lure in two information forums. The topics range from “vocational choice orientation with the ProfilPASS” to “Study part-time without Abitur” to “Career in medium-sized companies – Bachelor and Master in SME management” and “Application tips from practice”.
