From 13th to 16th October, the second edition of PHOTOPIA Hamburg brings together numerous exhibiting companies, professional audiences and many people with a passion for photography and video filming in the Hanseatic city. After the successful start in 2022, the B2B conference ImagingExecutives@PHOTOPIA, which is designed in cooperation with the specialist media imaging+foto-contact and INTERNATIONAL CONTACT, will start on the 13th. October with a top-class program. It offers the ideal platform for industry leaders to present and discuss the opportunities and current challenges in the imaging business.

Under the motto “Intelligent Progress”, ImagingExecutives@PHOTOPIA will provide new impetus to hardware and software suppliers, image service providers, retailers and distributors as well as companies whose business includes the generation, editing, marketing or output of visual content, and provide a platform for personal exchange. In addition to members of the management of leading imaging companies such as Canon, CEWE and Imaging Solutions, representatives from photo trade and image services as well as independent experts will also present their ideas and concepts.
Omnichannel solutions intelligently interlinked
In her keynote “Future is made out of courage”, the author, economist and work scientist Simonone Gerwers proposes right at the start of the congress to react to the current crises not with worries or even fear, but with a “outbreak of courage”. Of course, this also applies to the retail trade, which has to face special challenges. Ralf Haberich, CEO of the specialist for shopping apps and omnichannel, Shopgate, shows under the title “What customers really expect… is not a coffee bar in the branch” how digital and stationary sales platforms can be intelligently interlinked with customer-centric omnichannel solutions. What new technologies and media such as NFT and the Metaverse mean for the future of retail is the topic of Marilyn Repp, Deputy Managing Director of the Mittelstand-Digital Center for Retail at HDE. The sought-after retail expert, who has been dealing with digitization, innovations and trends in retail for many years, calls out to the companies in the industry: “Get out of the comfort zone – into the future!”
Owner-managed companies versus high-capital competitors
Experts from the imaging industry will discuss which product categories the photo trade can use to address new target groups in view of falling sales in the camera business. Image services also play a role in this: Cewe Board Member Dr. Reiner Fageth will show how artificial intelligence (AI) can support customers in image selection without turning them into “glass consumers”. The management of Foto Erhardt will show how an owner-managed company can operate successfully on the market despite declining demand in the camera market and fierce competition from high-capital competitors and grow profitably. A panel discussion is also about the growing importance of moving images and successful concepts for the accessories business.
