A new specialist forum, a job market and two professional competitions complement the proven supporting program and make it the most extensive in the history of Chillventa so far.


The world’s leading trade fair for refrigeration technology with congress is known by international key players and specialists in refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation and heat pump technology as a knowledge platform with a comprehensive and high-quality supporting program. This year, trade visitors will come from 11th to 13th. October in Nuremberg even more at their expense: A new specialist forum, a job exchange and two professional competitions complement the proven supporting program and make it the most extensive in the history of Chillventa so far. The Chillventa CONGRESS on the 10th October starts with four parallel streams, on site and in the live stream.

“The craftsmen in particular are a very important target group for Chillventa and so we are pleased to be able to provide them with one more reason to visit this year in addition to innovations and solutions from over 800 exhibitors with additional supporting program items. NEW: Forum “Shaping digitization in practice in the craft industry”

The new highlight for all craft businesses: Practitioners from different trades show real digital strategies and solutions implemented and transferable to other companies in compact power interviews in the forum “Designing digitization practically in crafts” in Hall 8, Stand 8-528. They give real insights into how they work with networked systems, thus increasing their efficiency and productivity and thus gaining more time and sales. Experts from technology, business and science will also discuss concrete opportunities that companies of all sizes and craft industries will still open up in the future through the use of state-of-the-art digital technology.


Specialist Forum Application & Training & Regulations

In addition to the new forum, trade visitors can obtain targeted information about new solutions and approaches in three thematically structured exhibitor specialist forums. In Hall 9, Stand 9-550, the focus in 57 lectures is on application, training and further education as well as the laws, norms and regulations. Some highlights from the topic overview are: leak detection, recovery of refrigerants, circular economy, new refrigerants/refrigerant mixtures and transport of medical products. eurammon offers a series of lectures in English to inform planners, operators and plant manufacturers about the situation and experiences with natural refrigerants.


Specialist forum for refrigeration technology

Hall 7A, booth 7A-616 is the point of contact for all those interested in refrigeration technology. Highlights among the 53 lectures include challenges, tips and solutions for the pump selection of R-744 and R-717 in industrial refrigeration systems, the historical development of connection technology in refrigeration and air conditioning technology and where the journey is going, as well as process-reliable soldering of copper-chromium-stain steel connections with depth induction.


Expert Forum Climate & Ventilation & Heat Pumps

This time, the third exhibitor specialist forum in Hall 4A, Stand 4A-401 is dominated by the current topic of heat pumps. Industrial heat pump for up to 165 °C, first performance results of Heaten’s industrial high-temperature heat pump, the presentation of the R-744 AW and W/W heat pump as well as heat pump certification are highlight lectures here. In a series of lectures by the FGK, everything revolves around the exchange of fans to improve efficiency. The VDMA provides information on the topics of filters and indoor air quality here. Energy saving and efficiency, filter technologies and indoor air quality are also discussed in this forum. A total of 51 lectures are waiting for interested visitors here.

Moderated by Bauverlag (KKA & tab), expert talks with experts from the industry on the topics of refrigerants, recruitment of skilled workers, material shortages and digitization will also take place.

NEW for employers and professionals: mehrmacher Job Corner

The shortage of skilled workers in the trade does not stop at the refrigeration and air conditioning industry. Chillventa as the central industry platform actively supports here and is launching a Job Corner for the first time this year in cooperation with mehrmacher. On the area in Hall 9, Stand 9-660, companies that present themselves as attractive employers and find specific specialists together. The so-called reverse recruiting approach is followed, in which companies apply to the specialists with their vacancies: interested parties register and then receive relevant job offers from employers. Employers receive information on how to position themselves for the future.


Special presentation “Heat Pump Innovation Lounge”

This special presentation area is intended for all heat pump manufacturers and installers in Hall 4A, Stand 4A-305. From product development to accredited testing, they accompany the experts of the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology and present innovative methods, comprehensive services and state-of-the-art laboratory infrastructure. The focus is on the sound emission of air heat pumps, the research and development of refrigerants with low greenhouse gas potential and heat pumps for industrial applications. The AIT relies on innovative methods such as augmented or virtual reality.


Special presentation “Handling flammable refrigerants”

The special area in Hall 4, Stand 4-405 provides theoretical findings and practical demonstrations of the required components, tools, personal protective equipment and leakage risks for combustible refrigerants. The promotion of sensitivity in the handling of combustible refrigerants and the safe work on refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump systems are the focus here.

Young talent shows their skills in two professional competitions

Premiere: Two professional competitions, both nationally and internationally, will take place at Chillventa in 2022 and will put the next generation of the industry in the spotlight. The World Championship of Professions – the WorldSkills Competition 2022 Special Edition – in the discipline of refrigeration and air conditioning technology will be held at Chillventa in Hall 3. At the WorldSkills, top specialists from 16 nations come together in Nuremberg to fight for the World Cup medals at the highest level.

The Federal Performance Competition (BLW) of the Federal Guild Association of the German Refrigeration Plant Builder Trade traditionally takes place in Hall 9, Stand 9-330. This is where the best young craftsmen of their year meet to determine the best next generation of refrigeration plant builders of the year. The jury must convince with expertise, craftsmanship and work under time pressure. The award ceremony of the three best participants will take place on Thursday, 13. October, at the BLW stand.

Chillventa CONGRESS: The extra portion of knowledge transfer

Already the day before the fair, 10. October 2022, top-class speakers from research, development and practice will talk about the future of the industry as part of the Chillventa CONGRESS. A separate ticket is required to participate. Both on site in Nuremberg and online via livestream, these four parallel streams await the international participants.


  1. Innovation Day Refrigeration Technology

Organized by the Bitzer Professorship for Refrigeration, Cryogenic and Compressor Technology at TU Dresden in cooperation with the German Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Association e. V. (DKV) and the Information Center Heat Pumps and Refrigeration Technology e.V. (IZW), current projects of research institutions and industry will be presented in the NCC East, Istanbul area. Thematically, the development of new refrigerant mixtures, the investigation of low-temperature refrigerants, the sublimation cycle in continuous operation, screw compressors in high-temperature heat pumps, safe transport cooling with hydrocarbons, water as refrigerant and calculation models for accelerated design are covered.


Heat pumping technologies for residential, commercial and industrial applications

Innovations and trends within heat pump technologies are provided by the second stream in the NCC East, Kiev area. The lectures will be presented by the Information Center Heat Pumps and Refrigeration Technology e.V. (IZW) and include the following central topics:

  • Heat pumps with low GWP refrigerants
  • New perspectives for industrial heat pumps
  • Large heat pumps in the test
  • IEA HPT TCP Annex 54 – Workshop
  • Calculation models for cold circuits
  • Sustainable heat pumps in residential buildings
  • Problems with refrigerants

Air conditioning of data centers

In the focus of this stream of the German Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Association e. V. (DKV) stand sustainable solutions with waste heat utilization for energy-efficient cooling of data centers. Data centers are illuminated as thermal power plants, future-oriented cooling concepts for digital interlocking units of Deutsche Bahn, sustainable management of data centers, use of waste heat from a data center as district heating and sustainable bio monoethylene glycol for cooling. The stream takes place in the NCC East, Oslo area.


ASERCOM + EPEE Symposium

The fourth and last stream of the Chillventa CONGRESS, held in English, is under the motto “Time for changes: Multiple Transition Challenges in Heating, Cooling and Refrigeration.” The key note speech is held by Tim Van Ierland, European Commission. In addition, three sessions deal with sustainability as a challenge, challenges in refrigerant conversion and challenges in the transition worldwide. The scene of the stream is in the NCC East, St. Petersburg.
