The German Foundation Day 2022 takes place from 28th to 30th. September at the Congress Center Leipzig and focuses on the topic of sustainability.

Against the background of an ongoing exceptional situation – corona pandemic, the effects of climate change and a war in Europe – foundations are committed to sustainable developments that enable people to peace and well-being and shape economic progress in line with social justice and while respecting the ecological boundaries of our planet. The concept of sustainability includes social aspects, the personal living environment, economic relationships, resource consumption as well as the environment and climate. Foundations have a special potential to work for sustainability.

The German Foundation Day 2022 is dedicated to the topic of sustainability with three focal points: sustainability in action for society, sustainability in the organization of internal processes and sustainability in investment. This also includes how current crises can be overcome and future ones avoided. The congress program offers the opportunity to exchange experiences, show new ways and to work even more for sustainable development through networking.

The Federal Association of German Foundations organizes Europe’s largest foundation congress every year. Around 2,000 donors, board members, foundation employees and volunteers, friends of the foundation system as well as multipliers come together in workshops, discussions, lectures and the accompanying exhibition. As part of the congress, the German Donor Prize will also be awarded, which honors personalities and actors who are particularly committed to the foundation system and the common good in Germany. In 2022, instead of the German Donor Prize, the special prize of the Federal Association of German Foundations will be awarded to MEMORIAL International and thus honors the commitment to civil society in Eastern Europe. The award ceremony will take place on the 29th. September 2022.
