International trade fair for potato cultivation – over 250 exhibitors from 15 countries – 7th and 8th September 2022 in Bockerode/Springe (Lower Saxony) – Minister of Agriculture Otte-Kinast visits
(DLG). At the Bockerode manor in Springe-Mittelrode (Lower Saxony), the organizer DLG (German Agricultural Society) launched the international potato fair PotatoEurope 2022. From the 7th and 8th September 2022, it is the meeting place for potato growers, processors and marketers from home and abroad. More than 250 exhibitors from 15 countries in the fields of breeding, fertilization, plant protection, agricultural technology and processing present their offers. This year, DLG is organizing the international outdoor fair together with the Union of the German Potato Industry (UNIKA), the technology partner CASE IH and the Lower Saxony Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection.
Lower Saxony’s Minister of Agriculture Barbara Otte-Kinast explained during the opening tour: “This trade fair impressively shows what high-performance potato cultivation can look like if climate, water and species protection is considered. Lower Saxony, as the number 1 potato country, lives up to its pioneering role. We develop practical solutions that are economical and sustainable at the same time.”
“The current drought and an expected low total harvest show society the importance of a reliable supply of high-quality potatoes,” says Martin Umhau, DLG Supervisory Board member. For Umhau, PotatoEurope is the most important showcase for the latest technology developments in potato production for the entire value chain. In particular, PotatoEurope shows companies perspectives and adaptation strategies for cultivation and marketing in the future.
