【DE】Love and hiking pleasures – The German-speaking world plays a leading role at the ReiseLust holiday fair

“Quiet longing, proud hope”: Until the 20th century. In the 19th century, Viktor Scheffel’s “Trumpeter of Säkkingen” was a much-read work. The epic describes the love story between the bourgeois Franz Werner and the noble Margaretha and is based on a true story. Interested parties meet her every step of the way in Bad Säckingen on the Upper Rhine. Travelers get a first impression of the romantic town at the holiday fair ReiseLust in Hall 4 of MESSE BREMEN from Friday to Sunday, 4th to 6th. November.

However, a lot of professional audiences will also look around at the fair. The Federal Association of the Alliance of Independent Travel Companies (asr) is holding its general meeting in Hall 4.1. for the second time parallel to the fair. The association comments that they want to offer the asr members attractive added value and underline the current spirit of optimism in tourism. Head of department Kerstin Renken from MESSE BREMEN: “We are very pleased about this good advertisement for Bremen and our multifunctional site.”

On the road in Germany and with the neighbors

“Germany is still the favorite travel destination of Germans, as surveys show. At the same time, the German-speaking neighboring countries are very popular, says Ulrike Harth, project manager at MESSE BREMEN. In Bad Säckingen, these destinations can be easily connected: Via a wooden Rhine bridge from the 16th century. Century – longest covered construction of its kind in Europe – visitors reach the Swiss canton of Aargau on dry feet.

In addition to Bad Säckingen, more than 100 exhibitors want to make you want to travel to the wide world and at home. Among them for the first time are Lebenshilfe Bremen and Wilhelmshaven-Friesland. Both clubs present accompanied trips for people with disabilities. “The Lebenshilfe Tours teams are working at full speed so that the catalogs for 2023 can be presented at the fair,” reports Vivienne Duensing from Lebenshilfe Bremen.

Only for the second time is Oldenburger Münsterland a guest in Bremen. Cyclists will find beautiful tours here, adventurous people can acquire a “outbreaking patent”. For this, they must learn to prick and wrestle peat, i.e. layer the peat into rings. The smallest language island in Europe can also be found here: the municipality of Saterland. With luck, you will meet one of the approximately 1,500 people who speak Saterfrisian and use it without stuttering with “Hatelk Wilkemen in Seelterlound!” can welcome.

Alpine fans will find the status of the Grossarltal in Salzburger Land for the first time in Bremen. Hiking enthusiasts can interrupt their tours on around 40 managed alpine pastures and taste the sour cheese produced only here (“sauakas”). The nearby Hohe Tauern National Park is also ideal for hiking. In the largest national park in Central Europe, in addition to the Großglockner as the highest mountain in Austria, 265 more three-thousand meter peaks impress. In winter, skiers and snowboarders are not far from the next slope and the snow park for tricks in skater style.

Added value trade fair trio

At the same time, the FISCH&FEINES trade fair for good food and drink with the associated CRAFT BEER EVENT will take place in the ÖVB Arena and Halls 2 and 3. In Halls 5 and 6, CARAVAN Bremen presents private hotels on wheels and tents.

Tickets are valid for all three trade fairs. Online they will cost 11 euros from mid-September, reduced 9.50 euros. If you get tickets on site, you pay 13 euros, a discount of 11.50 euros. Friday from 3 p.m. admission costs 5 euros online, 7 euros on site.
