【DE】Here we go again: Applications for the Next Chef Award and INTERNORGA Future Award are now possible

From 11th to 13th March 2023, the popular competition for young chefs “Next Chef Award” will take place at the leading international trade fair for hotels, gastronomy, bakeries and pastry shops. For this and for the renowned “INTERNORGA Future Prize”, which took place on the 10th. March 2023, applications will be accepted immediately. Under the motto #alltogether, INTERNORGA brings together cooking talents, innovative companies and many other players in one place, creates exchange among them and honors them with renowned industry awards.


Wanted: Next Chef 2023


To the pots, get started – after a three-year break, celebrity chef Johann Lafer and INTERNORGA are looking for the “Next Chef” again. On three days, cooking will finally be held again in the Hamburg exhibition halls for the coveted “Next Chef Award”. Launched in 2016, the competition will also lure in 2023, in addition to the title, with its own cookbook, which will be published by Gräfe und Unzer Verlag.


Young cooking talents from Germany, Austria and Switzerland can apply. They must not be older than 26 years and must have completed vocational training. The training may have been completed in all gastronomic areas – such as restaurants, system and community gastronomy or catering.


A jury with industry sizes selects among all until the 31st. 18 candidates submitted in December 2022. From 11th to 13th March 2023, six of them will compete against each other at INTERNORGA. The task: Cook a main course from four identical ingredients in front of a live audience and expert jury in 60 minutes.


If you make it to the final, you have the challenge of cooking a dish by Johann Lafer – without a recipe, but with a lot of talent and adrenaline.



The Next Chef Award has already helped the previous winners Kevin Gedike (2019), Marianus von Hörsten (2018), Maximilian Schultz (2017) and Jonas Straube (2016) to make a career boost.

Next round for the INTERNORGA Future Prize


Innovative, future-oriented, sustainable – more than ever, these criteria are in demand in a fallow land that faces more challenges than hardly any other. Companies that not only pursue these standards but also successfully implement them have the chance to win the renowned INTERNORGA Future Prize, which will take place on the 10th. March 2023 already on the 12th. times is awarded. Applications will be submitted from now on and until the 15th. January 2023 accepted under:INTERNORGA Future Prize.


The prize, which is one of the most important national and international awards in the out-of-home market, is awarded in the three categories: “Food & Beverages”, “Technology & Equipment” and “Gastronomy & Hotel Industry”. The winners will be decided by an independent jury of experts consisting of recognized experts from business, science and society. Companies can apply for the “Gastronomy & Hotel Industry” category themselves or be nominated for it. Applications for the two other sections “Food & Beverages” and “Technology & Equipment” are only possible for exhibitors of INTERNORGA 2023.


The trendsetters in the out-of-home market are awarded – companies that place the highest demands on their innovative strength as well as the social and ecological effects of their products and their own company and are thus exemplary for their industry.

  • Category “Technology & Equipment”: Too Good to Go App of Too Good to Go GmbH
  • Category “Gastronomy & Hotel Industry”: studierendenWERK BERLIN, gastronomy concept “greenes2 – mindful campus food” of the Studierendenwerk Mannheim and the Studierendenwerk Osnabrück



In line with the motto #alltogether, visitors at INTERNORGA 2023 can experience how much talent and innovative spirit there is in the industry and what opportunities and possibilities arise, especially in challenging times through exchange and cooperation. The Next Chef Award and the INTERNORGA Future Award exemplify the outstanding energy and creativity in the entire out-of-home market.
