【DE】Everything under power: New ENERGY Forum at GET Nord 2022 shows ways into electrified society

Electrification and networking are not only becoming increasingly important in everyday life, they also offer enormous potential in the building sector. In addition to generating electricity from renewable energy sources, demand-oriented power distribution is one of the decisive factors for a future that is as CO2-free as possible. At GET Nord, the new ENERGY Forum is working intensively on these topics that are important for the energy and mobility transition.

The creation of an intelligent charging infrastructure for electric cars is only one of the focal points of the forum. Experts are also dealing with the issues of preventive fire protection, which are so important due to the progression of electrification. In addition, leading international manufacturers provide information about the secure connection of electricity, heat and mobility in residential buildings, commercial enterprises and public institutions.

Growth market electromobility

Electromobility is on the rise: According to the Federal Motor Transport Authority, every seventh newly registered vehicle drives all-electrically. Since March 2021, the Building Electromobility Infrastructure Act (GEIG) has also set the course for the accelerated expansion of the charging infrastructure for electric mobility in buildings. At its core, the regulation provides that a certain number of parking spaces must be equipped with protective tubes for electrical cables in the new construction of residential and non-residential buildings as well as for major renovations. In addition, controllable consumers such as charging stations for electric vehicles will contribute to the stability of the energy supply in the future. At the ENERGY Forum of GET Nord 2022 in Hall B3, electrical craftsmen will receive all relevant information to occupy the growth market of electromobility. Experts shed light on the mobility turnaround both from the user’s point of view and from the perspective of science, business and planners. Michael Conradi from the HEA Association for Efficient Energy Application e. V., for example, gives interesting insights into future-proof electrical installation as a basis for digitization and electromobility. In addition, charging solutions for the fleet, for home and in the neighborhood are discussed in detail.

In addition to attending the ENERGY Forum, the exchange with the providers of holistic charging infrastructure and e-mobility solutions represented at GET Nord, including ABL, Dehn, MENNEKES, Phoenix Contact, Schneider Electric and Siemens, is recommended. Legrand presents, among other things, the easy-to-install and operate charging solution “Green’Up”, which is particularly suitable for single-family and multi-family houses as well as for commercial properties and shopping facilities. Spelsberg also relies on uncomplicated installation and intuitive commissioning for the new 11 kW wall boxes “Pure” and “Smart Pro” for electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids: “The wall mounting is conveniently done by means of mounting rail and drilling template and thus enables quick installation. A generously designed installation space creates sufficient space both when screwing and connecting supply, charging and data cables, explains Jörn Lindert, Head of Marketing at Spelsberg. “Configuration and control are carried out via the specially developed Spelsberg Wallbox app, which is available free of charge for both iOS and Android. This ensures easy handling and significant time savings during assembly.”

Future technologies expand the business area of the craft industry

Significant growth potential also lies in the services around renewable energies. Almost 50 percent of electrical trades are already active in the field of photovoltaics, especially when it comes to building-related systems. This was the result of the economic survey of the Central Association of German Electrical and Information Technology Crafts (ZVEH) in autumn 2022. The heat pump sector is still expandable, in which, however, a third of the companies are already active. The ENERGY Forum offers an overview of the possible applications of solar, wind and bioenergy, geothermal energy and hydropower. The spectrum ranges from renewable energy generation to demand-oriented energy distribution and storage to efficient energy consumption. The lectures and discussions focus on questions of how the use of renewable energies can be implemented and how our lives will be influenced in the future.

Comprehensively deals with the opportunities and challenges of the heat pump, Dr. Martin Sabel, Managing Director of the Bundesverband Wärmepumpe (BWP) e. V. in his lecture “Heat pump: political framework conditions, profitability, climate protection, quality assurance, training offers and further education”. Furthermore, basic and advanced seminars on the subject of heat pump and photovoltaics will be presented and solutions for the use of the heat pump in multi-storey housing construction and solar thermal energy will be shown.

Great need for action in terms of fire protection

The further electrification progresses, the more important fire protection prevention becomes. New fire risks can arise, for example, from electric cars in underground garages, which are connected to the power grid there for charging. The risk of fire is also increased outdoors if the wallbox is installed on a non-refractory, insulated house facade. As part of the ENERGY Forum, the German Institute for Preventive Fire Protection (DIvB) informs exclusively with specialist lectures by its members about any risks posed by increasing electrification in the building sector and preventive measures. The focus is, for example, on surge protection in buildings with a photovoltaic system. In addition, the organization is represented with its own stand in Hall B3.

In addition, companies specializing in fire protection topics present their innovative solutions, including the solution provider WAGNER, where TITANUS® intake smoke detectors for early fire detection form the basis of every individual, holistic solution. They are up to 2,000 times more sensitive than conventional smoke detectors and detect fires at a very early stage, so that appropriate countermeasures can be initiated quickly. “Whether it is a small archive, a data center or a huge high-bay warehouse: Our customers receive a suitable, because individually designed solution with our systems for fire detection in combination with active fire prevention or firefighting, which takes into account the prevailing risks in the field of protection, as well as the respective protection goals,” says Steffen Springer, Managing Director of WA “At our stand, we will present a large selection of intake smoke detectors in different versions with a wide variety of accessories.” Other well-known manufacturers in this segment are Bartholomew, defumus Rauchschutz-Technik, DOYMA, Oppermann and Walraven.

About GET Nord

GET Nord is the only joint trade fair for electrical, sanitary, heating and air conditioning in Germany and the leading building technology trade fair in the north. It takes place every two years on the grounds of Hamburg Messe und Congress and networks the various trades of building technology with architects, planners, wholesalers and industry with its pioneering trade fair concept. Around 550 companies present their latest products and innovative solutions on the topics of energy efficiency, renewable energies, energy management, building equipment and building system technology. This makes the GET Nord platform and initiator for future-oriented building technologies and solutions for climate protection at home. It will take place from the 17th to the 19th. November 2022 in Hamburg.
