The hobby brewing competition of Maisel & Friends and BrauBeviale
The competition for hobby and home brewers was already launched in 2018. With the creative brewers from Maisel & Friends and BrauBeviale as one of the most important capital goods fairs for the beverage industry, two perfect partners have been found for this, who have been able to further advance the popularity and awareness of the competition in recent years. In 2022, the competition theme “American Style Amber/Red Ales” again attracted numerous hobby brewers. The expert jury of master brewers, beer sommeliers, journalists and hobby brewers evaluated 106 submissions according to appearance, smell, taste, bitterness, review and personal impression.
“Flaming Amber” won the race
Markus Stüttgen was able to win the big victory at the fifth hobby brewing competition in Dormagen. Together with Aribert Braun, Sven Lundie, Franz Josef Brauns, his team of the best brewery Best!, he was able to convince the top-class jury of experts with the American Amber Ale “Flaming Amber” and prevail against the strong competition. The winning team is proud of its winning beer and the result of the bridal days, which took place in Bayreuth at the end of September. The passionate hobby brewers want to build on their success and continue to invest in their home brewery, which is already well equipped with its own tasting room and a variety of stored malt and hop varieties.
Foxy, reddish brown, with fine turbidity and creamy white foam crown – this is the Flaming Amber. A firework of aromas exudes the scent of red berries and fresh red apples. Notes of peach, rosehip and the scent of bread bark also rise into the nose. Wonderful aromas also come into their own in the mouth: peach and citrus accompany the taste of strawberries. The malt also brings in its full strength and brings a fine sweetness reminiscent of caramel. This is followed by the aroma of freshly baked bread.
Since there will be no BrauBeviale this year, Maisel & Friends and the winning team are organizing a release event at the Holy Craft Beer Bar in Düsseldorf, near the home of the winners. On the 18th November at 6 p.m., the team of the Hausbrauerei will do the best! together with Maisel & Friends beer sommelier Michael König, the Flaming Amber.
Next year, at BrauBeviale 2023, there will again be a winning presentation of previous and current winners live at the fair in front of a large trade audience.
