【DE】The ophthalmic spectrum: complete and compact

In just under two months, opti, the International Trade Fair for Optics & Design will return to its traditional pool position at the beginning of the year. From 13th to 15th January 2023, the ophthalmic family will meet at the Munich exhibition center to inform themselves about the news and trends of the industry and to order goods from the entire ophthalmic spectrum.

There are now three well-filled halls that await the trade audience in Munich in mid-January. Halls C3 and C4 have been compacted in such a way that the former hall includes all opti-offer areas and at the same time corresponds to the proven hall structure. The connection to the north entrance as well as the usual transition and tour to halls C2 and C1 will be even more compact. Exhibitors and visitors benefit equally. Thomas Truckenbrod, President of the Central Association of Optometrists and Optometrists (ZVA): “Opti is and remains an important industry meeting place. A denser hall occupancy meets the industry’s need for exchange – so the fair returns to its healthy roots.”

Space and opportunity for exchange and expert talks

Speaking of association. On the spacious area of the opti CAFÉ powered by ZVA in hall C3, there will be plenty of space and opportunity for exchange and expert talks in January. Trade visitors also have the chance to get advice on their social media presence in short 20-minute slots for the first time. The social media consultation hours take place on all days of the fair in German, English and French. The experts are Sarah Schleicher, German optician and eyewear blogger with almost 19,000 fans on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/sarah_schleicher_/) and Anne-Sophie Lapetite from AnSoStyle (https://www.instagram.com/ansostyle/). The Frenchwoman from Antibes is also an optician and with 100,000 followers of international Instagram favorite. If you want to secure one of the slots in advance, you can do so on the opti website from December. However, the ophthalmological and hearing acoustic young people should secure the opportunity to find out about the exciting training and further education opportunities directly next to the opti CAFÉ as part of the opti CAMPUS in a personal conversation with the education providers in the industry.

Compactly compacted

AOYAMA will also be located in the new compact hall C3 in January. ” opti Munich is and remains the most important optics fair,” explains Alexandra Fabig, AOYAMA Marketing. The location Munich and the time in mid-January are perfectly chosen for the industry. “By condensing the halls, we see only advantages – both for visitors and exhibitors. We are all already looking forward to the start of opti,” says Fabig. The company, founded in Japan, is based in this country in the creative environment of the Babelsberg film studios and develops, produces and distributes around three million spectacle frames for the international market every year. With its high-quality screening and diagnostic equipment for ophthalmologists, opticians and occupational physicians, OCULUS is new in Hall C3. Marketing manager Rita Kirchhübel: “Basically, as OCULUS, we are committed to visiting opti. In May 2022, we were very happy that we were able to meet our customers again in Munich. We had a successful trade fair and already knew that we would participate again next January. For me personally, it is incomprehensible that you agree and then cancel again afterwards. Thus, planning from the trade fair side is not possible. We also think it’s okay that Hall C4 has now been divided into 3 halls, in a small mix. This is certainly also interesting for the visitor and not quite as monotonous. We, the company OCULUS, stand by our word and I personally think it is a great pity that there are companies that thus jeopardize the leading trade fair for optics through their behavior.”

Newcomers and strong brands

As with the May special edition, myopia management is also the focus of opti 2023. Sustainability in ophthalmic optics is also the focus again, very strongly again among the start-ups of opti BOXEN. 5Loops, for example, wants to embody five values: the use of natural materials, waste prevention, a circular economy concept, cooperation and solidarity. The newcomers from Grasbrunn near Munich will present themselves to the public for the first time at opti 2023 and launch their first collection – and thus also compete at the 2nd opti BOX AWARD. This is also done by YQU from Böblingen, Baden-Württemberg, the inventors of 2-in-1 glasses. A unique glasses hinge makes it possible to rotate the glasses hangers up to 360 degrees. In combination with the frames, lenses and a two-color design, this results in individual 2-in-1 glasses – sunglasses as well as prescription glasses.

Not only newcomers start the opti into the ophthalmological year 2023. Exhibitors like Lunor and IC-Berlin are like this! for example, in the 15th. year there. You and also the traditional Italian company Marcolin can be found in Hall C1, Marcolin promises a lot of novelties for January on over 300 square meters.

The opti 2023 will take place from 13th to 15th. January on the proven start date of the year. The webinar series opti FORUM XT shortens the time until the live event. Next date: 17.
