The war in Ukraine, the energy crisis, climate change and the still noticeable effects of the corona pandemic pose major challenges for society. This is accompanied by growing threats to critical infrastructures (KRITIS) – from cyber attacks and sabotage acts to extreme betting events to the interruption of important supply chains. On the protekt (2nd to 3rd November 2022 in the KONGRESSHALLE at Leipzig Zoo), operators of critical infrastructures gather to inform and exchange information about the protection of their companies from current and imminent dangers. After 2021, the established conference once again recorded a record participation with 300 experts from all over Germany and Austria. 14 premium partners and exhibitors present their products and services on the fully booked presentation space.
“The protection of critical infrastructures has arrived in public awareness. This also increases the importance of protekt as the only specialist conference in Germany that has been fully illumcising this topic for many years. Once again, we have succeeded in putting together a top-class conference program and achieving a record participation. We are looking forward to two exciting days with many important impulses and assistance for KRITIS operators,” explains Markus Geisenberger, Managing Director of Leipziger Messe.
The protekt program deals equally with IT security and the physical protection of critical infrastructures. The focus is on new forms of attack of increasingly complex cyberattacks, their detection and defense as well as practical examples of successful hacking attacks. Other topics include concepts for food emergency care in the event of a disaster, the handling of fragile supply chains and the use of artificial intelligence in the protection of the civilian population. An expert discussion round discusses various aspects of security of supply. In a workshop for municipal decision-makers, current topics are dealt with and solutions are shown.
The protekt has been taking place in Leipzig since 2016. Since then, it has established itself as an important meeting place for KRITIS operators and the security industry. The protekt is once again supported by the Federal Ministry of the Interior and Homeland as well as by the Saxon State Chancellery. Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser and Thomas Popp, State Secretary for Digital Administration and Administrative Modernization, act as patrons.
