After four varied days, the Stuttgart Trade Fair Autumn ended on Sunday. From 17th to 20th In November, a total of around 105,000 visitors came to the Stuttgart exhibition center, where eight trade fairs in eight halls had offered a colorful entertainment program for the whole family. There was an exuberant atmosphere among the approximately 850 exhibitors and visitors.

“The Stuttgart Trade Fair Autumn was a lot of fun. Everyone involved could see the desire at our trade fairs visibly. As organizers, we can be completely satisfied,” says Stefan Lohnert, Managing Director of Messe Stuttgart, on Sunday afternoon. Lohnert is a passionate wind musician himself and was therefore particularly pleased about the first edition of the BRAWO wind band fair: “BraWO has created a special atmosphere and a great atmosphere on our premises with its concerts and workshops. We can build on this successful premiere.”

In addition to BRAWO, classics of the Stuttgart Trade Fair Autumn such as the Games Fair, the Creative, the Family & Home and the Minerals Fossil Jewelry took place. The veggie & free of, the Animal as well as the eat&style rounded off the versatile offer. This variety of topics is also a great asset from the point of view of Andreas Wiesinger, member of the management board of Messe Stuttgart: “The family atmosphere on our premises was felt on all days. Thanks to the many different topics, there was something for everyone: for young and old, families and friends. This is what makes Stuttgart’s MesseHerbst.”

BRAWO provides musical framework

BRAWO provided a special atmosphere at the exhibition center. Due to the many concerts in the ICS and in the atrium, brass music fulfilled not only the concert halls, but also the entrance East. Large orchestras and small groups played concerts at BRAWO. Highlights included the performance of the SWR Big Band, the opening concert of the Baden-Württemberg State Police Orchestra and the Army Music Corps Ulm. But the workshops of the BRAWO Academy were also actively attended and in the exhibition area many visitors took the opportunity to play instruments and get advice. The professional and ideal carrier of BRAWO, the brass band association Baden-Württemberg, also played a major role in the success of the premiere. Thanks to the more than 380,000 members and the excellent contacts to the scene, many renowned groups and orchestras played at BRAWO and offered workshops.

Andreas Bader, owner of Alphornbau Bader, found only words of praise for the premiere: “This fair is simply brilliant! Especially in Stuttgart, such a thing has been due for decades, because there are not only great musicians here, but also excellent instrument makers. BRAWO was well attended, the visitors were interested. We were able to get to know many people and present ourselves well. The professional exchange among the exhibitors was also very important for everyone. We had numerous stimulating conversations and would love to come back.” Ruud Corstjens, Marketing & Artist Relations at ADAMS Musical Instruments BV, was also able to agree with this: “BRAWO was a very, very good trade fair, excellently organized, with a great atmosphere and an interested audience. By Saturday evening, we had practically all of our percussion and wind instruments already sold. Next time we will definitely be happy to come back. We are absolutely satisfied!”

“Ran to the boards” was the motto at the games fair

The game island enjoyed great popularity at the games fair again this year. The tables for testing the classics and novelties were always filled, a hit was the game of the year 2022 “Cascadia”. The experts from Gamepoint Bietigheim patiently explained the rules and gave useful tips. Christine Melzer, Project Manager at Hutter Trade GmbH & Co. KG, reported from an enthusiastic audience: “For us, the games fair went excellently, we are very satisfied. The event was very nicely attended, all areas were full throughout, there was a lot and gladly tried out. Accordingly, we were able to sell well. On top of that, we got a nice stand. Our next games fair appearance is already being planned!”

But lovers also found what they were looking for in the areas of enthusiasm for technology and model making and railways. As part of the games fair, the European N-Scale Convention took place again. European model railroaders who deal with the scale 1:160 (“track N”) met here. In the eSports sector, the gamblers were able to compete with video game professionals from VfB Stuttgart, among others. In the gallery of the L-Bank Forum (Hall 1), the huge Lego area enchanted the big and small visitors.

The photography department was also represented again at the games fair – and according to Jens Bartmann, Managing Director of Foto Bartmann GmbH, was again very well received by the audience. “We are now here in the eighth year and again completely happy with our trade fair appearance. The sale also went excellently. The classic photo market has increasingly developed towards the high-end segment. Especially in the high-quality camera sector, there is still good consumerism. People care about their hobby, and they want to treat themselves to something about it. We met a demanding clientele here with a high proportion of reliable regular customers,” says Bartmann.

Already on Thursday and Friday, there was a lot of hustle and bustle in the already consistently very well-attended L-Bank Forum (Hall 1), which shared the Games Fair and Creative. The children’s and school days again attracted many school classes with their teachers to the fair. The knowledge and player rallies as well as the workshops in the desire for technology area provided varied entertainment.

Extensive workshop program at Kreativ

For all do-it-yourself fans and do-it-yourself fans, Kreativ was the first point of contact at the Stuttgart MesseHerbst. At countless workshops, visitors were able to work with a wide variety of materials. The ArtNight on Friday and Saturday focused on painting, where the participants were able to create a work of art even without prior knowledge thanks to the prepared setup. At the HäkelNight, fabric and crochet hook were more in demand, for the cold winter days you could crochet the cap “Kanuma” by myboshi yourself here.

Anna-Sophia Skora, owner of the Petit Atelier: “I was here for the first time and take home a lot of new impressions. The audience was mixed, all ages were represented. It was very interesting to talk to the many different people and see how my products were received. The audience of creative knows how to appreciate handmade things, and I got a lot of valuable feedback. On the other hand, there was a nice cooperation between the exhibitors. It was a good decision to come here.” Kai Stockmann, Managing Director and Co-Founder of The Brand Box GmbH, also noticed an open-minded audience: “We came to the fair with a classic goal – to present something and thus set a purchase trigger. That worked very nicely. We appreciate the Stuttgart location and the creative as a platform, as many French and Swiss also find their way here. Baden-Württemberg itself is already a good plaster in terms of purchasing power.”

Family & Home: Feel good in your own four walls

At Familie & Heim, everything revolved around your own four walls again this year. An important topic at the fair: energy saving. In the energy consulting exhibition area, Germany’s largest association of independent energy consultants, the GIH, therefore offered comprehensive advice. In addition, visitors to the International Kitchen Fair were inspired by Der Kreis or find their dream kitchen. Last but not least, the exhibitors had many products related to building and renovation in their luggage, from furniture to windows and doors to conservatories.

Natalie Zamanski, manager at Showbiz GmbH, came to the following conclusion: “I think the new, more compact format of Stuttgart’s trade fair autumn is very good. The fair is generously planned, which allows relaxed public traffic. Overall, we met a nice, good audience, and there was a positive atmosphere in the halls. Sales didn’t go bad either.”

A group from the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University also conducted an eye tracking study on sustainability labelling in food. “We met with great interest in our study and regularly found test persons. The visitors to the family & home were very open-minded and liked to get involved in conversations. Our goal was to address as wide a wide range of participants as possible – old, young, male, female, different levels of education and so on. This was excellently successful because this fair appeals to a very wide audience,” says Christiane Gädker, project manager of the study.

The colorful world around the pet on the Animal

Animal things were discovered on the Animal for three days. The highlight of the big pet fair was, among other things, the Dogdance European Championship, at which around 80 participants from all over Europe duelled in a top-class competition. Animal lovers also got their money’s worth at the big dog race, the ANIMAL Cup, the Dog Beauty Lounge and the international pedigree cat exhibition. A colorful mixture of bird of prey show, ornamental and breed poultry presentations, KaninHop sports, riding shows, pony rides and the Alpaca Trail for children rounded off the program especially for families. In addition, there were numerous possibilities for shopping for food and accessories.

Jasmin Köhler, promoter at bosch petfood concept: “There was quite a lot going on. On the very first day, we had to catch up on new goods and barely even got away from our stand during the rest of the time to take a small tour ourselves. A lot of customers had very specific questions, a large part took advantage of our trade fair discounts. We were able to welcome regular customers, win new customers – and offer something for everyone!” Laura Ehlert, Sales, Dr. Clauder solutions for pets, was pleased about the course of the Animal: “At Animal, a wide range of audiences meets a diverse offer. This ultimately benefits everyone. For us, consulting was in the foreground, and many customers turned to us with their problems. But there was also a fairly good willingness to buy. Next time we will certainly be there again!”

Enjoy healthy on the veggie & free of

The veggie & frei von, among others, provided culinary enjoyment during the Stuttgart Trade Fair Autumn. At cooking shows by well-known chefs such as Stina Spiegelberg, Sebastian Copien, Niko Rittenau or Boris Lauser, nutritional advice, recipes and tastings, health-conscious connoisseurs got their money’s worth. The veggie & frei von offered a delicious range of alternatives to nutrition – from meat-free or vegan enjoyment to foods without additives that offer solutions to allergies and intolerances.

For Sascha Franzen, Managing Director of Bambule Events, the audience of the Stuttgart Trade Fair Autumn is a big plus: “Normally we move within our vegan ‘bubble’, but here you will find a very broad, open-minded audience from convinced vegans to allergy sufferers to interested newcomers – and that’s exactly what the companies we represent are particularly important. In any case, our stand was heavily frequented, as there was a lot to taste with us. Overall, Stuttgart is one of the most important trade fairs of the year for us.”

Lasse Hilmer, Standleitung und Beratung, Bauck GmbH: “There was a lot going on and we had many great conversations. The visitors were interested, well informed and were happy to get advice. Our main concern was to present our new products, which was completely successful. The tasting went so well that sometimes we barely kept up. We received good encouragement and a lot of positive feedback.”

Minerals Fossils Jewelry again contact point for lovers

An absolute classic at the Stuttgart Trade Fair Autumn is the minerals fossil jewelry. The traditional event was there again and delighted its visitors with all kinds of glittering and sparkling. Experts were at their side with words and deeds with questions about gemstones, fossils and minerals and helped, among other things, to determine the material or value. Silversmiths presented their artistic craft and the little visitors also got their money’s worth at the children’s program.

Christine Skirmuntt, owner of AMBERMIN Bernsteinschmuck, has been exhibitor at the fair for a long time and was there again this year. “We appreciate the high-quality offer of this fair, and amber is always in vogue. The ‘MinFoss’ is an important date for us, also to attract new customers. That’s why we have been involved for three decades, i.e. since Killesberg times. We had a very good stand and got a great audience response with many transactions,” says Skirmuntt.

eat&style provides culinary highlights

Demanding “foodies” opened a true taste in the Alfred-Kärcher-Halle (Hall 8), where the guest fair eat&style had a wealth of high-quality products. Since 2006, eat&style has stood for a colorful mixture of food entertainment, celebrity chefs and trends on culinary delights and hospitality. Also this year, well-known exhibitors and regional manufacturers with extraordinary products and various topics invited you to shop and taste.

The next Stuttgart Trade Fair Autumn will take place from 23rd to 26th. November 2023.
