How can museums and other cultural enterprises increase the attractiveness of their offer? What measures can be used to improve service and internal processes? And how can institutions best protect their collections and exhibits? MUTEC provides answers to these and many other questions. The international trade fair for museum and exhibition technology takes place under one roof with the monument. Together, both trade fairs form a trade fair network unique in Europe, which builds a bridge between the various industries and inspires the interdisciplinary dialogue around the preservation of cultural heritage.
The MUTEC exhibition covers all areas of museum and exhibition technology. The spectrum ranges from innovations in the field of buildings & technology to impressive possibilities in exhibition design to new ways in the media presentation of content and exhibits. MUTEC also offers a wide range of offers on the topics of visitor service as well as collection and cultural business management. Offers and products aimed specifically at archives, depots and libraries also play an important role. This year, three new exhibition areas are celebrating their MUTEC premiere: stage technology and equipment (in cooperation with the Berlin University of Applied Sciences), MuseumsMerch (provider and products on the subject of museum shop equipment) and accessibility.
The MUTEC Forum bundles current and exciting topics from the world of cultural enterprises in the form of five topic blocks. These deal with “event technology”, “safety”, “change of perspective”, “light” and “preservation”. The latter should also be particularly interesting for monument visitors. The focus is on the question “Cultural memory loss: neglected – destroyed – to save?” The organizer is ICOM Germany.
After a cooperation between MUTEC and ICOM Germany had already been agreed for 2020, this promising cooperation can finally be realized. As the largest forum for museum professionals in Germany and Europe, ICOM is primarily dedicated to the promotion of young scientists, museum-related specialist information and the international exchange of museum professionals.
