Doing good together: Lord Mayor Marcus König, NürnbergMesse CEO Peter Ottmann and LionsClub President Wolf-Dieter Harrer have put two deposit tons into operation at the Nuremberg Exhibition Center. As part of the ConSozial trade fair, the tons donated by NürnbergMesse and the LionsClub were set up so that trade fair visitors can donate a deposit for a good cause at future events. These donations are intended to benefit the Nuremberg association Straßenkreuzer e.V., which supports people in social need and wants to create jobs with the money. “Doing good and acting sustainably – a good combination. It is even better that the Straßenkreuzer e.V. benefits from this combination. The street cruiser is one of the outstanding social projects in Nuremberg that deserves support and attention,” says Lord Mayor Marcus König. Peter Ottmann, CEO NürnbergMesse Group, adds: “The deposit bin is a great idea that combines sustainability with a good cause. I am convinced that our trade fair guests will be happy to contribute to the success of the campaign.” The idea for the donated deposit of the LionsClubs arose in the exhibition center, says Wolf-Dieter Harrer, one of the organization leaders of the seven participating LionsClubs at Consumenta: “We were allowed to present ourselves generously there and would now like to give something back with our donation.”
The concept behind the deposit bins comes from the Nuremberg startup “Pfandnetzwerk” and is as simple as it is good: By throwing in their deposit bottles, trade fair visitors will be able to donate their deposit to the good cause in the future. With four other deposit tons in the Nuremberg city area, the deposit network has already collected over 10,500 deposit bottles.
NürnbergMesse has covered the costs of purchasing a deposit ton, a third deposit to be added shortly. Two employees of NürnbergMesse had arranged contact with the road cruiser and deposit network. With the campaign, the trade fair company now becomes the tenth partner and fourth location of the deposit network.
