The advantages are obvious: You remain flexible, are hardly subject to any restrictions on luggage and can feed yourself at will with regional or brought products, which also protects the holiday budget. As limitless as the horizon are the possibilities of the booming form of vacation. At the CMT in Stuttgart, visitors to the caravanning area can expect a huge range of offers for all family sizes and wallets: around 1200 caravans, motorhomes and recreational vehicles of well-known brands and manufacturers, exciting novelties as well as a large range of expansion systems and accessories.

Recreational vehicles in seven exhibition halls

“The demand for motorhomes and caravans is unbroken,” says Alexander Ege, Director of Trade Fairs & Events and responsible for the holiday fairs of Messe Stuttgart. As the world’s largest public fair for tourism and leisure, CMT offers a great opportunity to inform yourself from experts, compare models, get behind the wheel yourself or try out a mattress – whether you are interested in a motorhome, a van or a camper.

In seven exhibition halls (L-Bank Forum, Hall 1; Hall C2; Jacques Lanners Hall 3; Halls 5 and 7; Alfred Kärcher Hall 8; Paul Horn Hall 10), everything revolves around caravanning and camping. From exclusive luxury liners to new small caravans, powerful off-road models and barrier-free trailers to a wide range of solar technology, air conditioning systems and shunting solutions, the industry presents its entire range. “The general desire for more individuality and self-sufficiency is also clearly visible in caravanning,” says Alexander Ege. “An important trend is therefore towards campervans and vans. Newcomers in particular attach great importance to everyday suitability. Virtually all major motorhome manufacturers now have such compact models on offer, but there are also several new companies that present their vehicles at CMT. How the family van or high-roof station wagon becomes a recreational vehicle can also be found on the CMT.”

Information and exchange in the “Camperland”

Visitors who are flirting with a caravanning holiday should stop by the rental offers at the East entrance to the trade fair. Last but not least, a vehicle rental provides information about your own wishes and needs – a valuable basis for a later purchase. If you do not yet know exactly where the journey should go, you will find bundled information about camping and pitches in the “Campingland” (Alfred Kärcher Hall 8). In Vans&Friends living room, you can listen to Vanlife testimonials from influencers and pick up many practical tips from the first hand.

Roof tents and “green” caravanning

Thanks to their low weight, the minimum space required during non-use and a comparatively manageable investment height, roof tents (entrance east) and folding trailers (L-Bank Forum, Hall 1) are enjoying growing popularity among individual holidaymakers. Especially couples, singles and young people appreciate the casual simplicity of this form of holiday: mobility and freedom are paramount, the construction takes place in a few simple steps.

Despite all the carefree desire to vacation, the topic of sustainability is increasingly becoming the focus of tourism, because travelers consume energy and produce waste. Here, too, recreational vehicles can score points – “Green Caravanning” is the magic word. At the East Entrance, exhibitors show how to enjoy the caravanning holiday responsibly in an environmentally and resource-friendly manner.
