Nuremberg has not only produced great races, but also fast and successful racers! Kurt König, an active motorsport player from 1978 to 1993, was a “learned mountain racer”, then moved to the German Racing Championship DRM (precursor of the DTM) and became vice champion in the German racing trophy in 1981. BMW entered the DTM in the mid-1980s, where he won his first victory in 1986 and finished third in the overall standings.

Gerhard Müller made a similar racing career, who made his debut in 1987 and switched to the DTM via stations in the Renault 5 Cup and Formula 3 in 1988. From 1989, Porsche shaped its motorsport Vita, in the Carrera Cup and Porsche Supercup he was to achieve his greatest successes for the Zuffenhauseners: fifth in the Carrera Cup 1996 and ninth in the Porsche Supercup 1997. However, Müller achieved his greatest motorsport success in 2001 at the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. There he came together with Gerhard Mannsperger, Wolf Silvester and Kurt Thiim a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (type 996) in second place overall.

Experience on Saturday, 3. December, at 1:30 p.m. these two Nuremberg racing originals as part of an interview round in Hall 7A at booth 7A B53 of Classic Sprint and Autohaus Löhlein, presented by Altmühltal Classic Sprint (Uwe Wiessmath) together with Levay film production (Peter Levay).

RETRO CLASSICS BAVARIA® 2022 in Nuremberg: The Japanese Power – Special show on Mitsubishi rarities in Hall 7

Mitsubishi may have become a little quiet these days, not least due to original withdrawal plans with regard to the European market. A new alliance together with Renault-Nissan was launched, and new models are announced for 2023. This continues the more than hundred-year tradition of the house, as Mitsubishi said it launched Japan’s first production automobile in 1917. Like many Japanese car manufacturers, the leap to Europe over the US market was made at the end of the 1970s.

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) was founded in Germany in 1977 and henceforth ensured that the brand initially unusual for German tongues (“unspeakably good” – original sound from a Mitsubishi advertisement with “Emperor” Franz Beckenbauer in the 90s) became better known year after year and that a “colt” no longer became just a handgun, but a serious golf competitor. Model names such as Galant, Sapporo and Lancer were shaped into the collective memory and Mitsubishi quickly got rid of exotic status. It is also these names that the passionate Mitsubishi collectors Anja and Tilo Macht from the Franconian Eckental will not let go.

True to the motto “one rarely comes alone”, the two have now collected over 140 Mitsubishi vehicles, making the collection not only one of the largest under the sign of the three diamonds in the world, but definitely the largest and most multifaceted outside Japan. Admire the most complete Mitsubishi Lancer Turbo collection, including unique special models and rally vehicles up to the Evo including service vehicle – exclusively at the RETRO CLASSICS BAVARIA© 2022 in Nuremberg in Hall 7.
