Specialist program with current topics around horses – a look outside the box into the international livestock industry is worthwhile
(DLG). The EuroTier 2022, which took place from the 15th to the 18th November had opened its doors at the exhibition center in Hanover, horse owners again offered a current exhibition and specialist program, which invited them to look outside the box into the international livestock industry. For the first time, a novelty from the field of horse husbandry was awarded the renowned Innovation Award EuroTier at the world’s leading trade fair for professional animal husbandry and livestock management. The accompanying specialist program also focused on current topics for horse husbandry.
The parallels between horse husbandry and professional livestock farming lie not only in the stable construction and its furnishing, but also in the daily work such as feeding and de-misting: round and cuboid bales must be moved into the stable, manure must be pulled out. Today, pasture fences for horses are also not only to be created – but also ‘wolf-proof’. These are just a few examples that show that operators of horse farms can basically benefit from the experiences and solutions of their colleagues at EuroTier and our surveys showed that they could use many offers of the exhibition and specialist program for their own business,” says Ines Rathke, project manager of EuroTier.
The first cross-animal young breeder meeting offered the offspring the opportunity to exchange and network. Right next to the TopTierTreff, Maren Schlender (Deputy Breeding Director of the Hannoveran Association) and Dorothee Warder (BRS chief classifier) spoke in an interested round about similarities and differences in the breeding work of horses and cattle, exterior assessment and tools for linear description, seehttps://www.instagram.com/p/C
Innovation Award for Active Cleaner from Wasserbauer
For the first time this year, an Innovation Award EuroTier was awarded to an innovation in the field of horse husbandry: The Active Cleaner from Wasserbauer Fütterungssysteme is a fully autonomous AI-controlled cleaning robot that specifically collects horse apples from the spout and paddock and also drives through and over sand under the fences. This achievement was awarded a gold medal.
A look at the exhibition and specialist program worthwhile
Among the more than 1,800 exhibitors in 2022, EuroTier bundled numerous offers for horse husbandry that were worth visiting the world’s leading trade fair from near and far. In the field of yard and loading technology, companies such as Manitou, Schäffer and Weidemann presented their products and services. Well-known exhibitors for stable construction and furnishings such as A. Conradis, Rudolf Hörman and Wolf System were there. Current fence construction solutions and accessories for grazing showed, among other things, Albert Kerbl, Gallagher or Patura.
It was also worth taking a look outside the box into the EuroTier specialist program. In addition to “guest lectures” in the field of horse husbandry, the DLG forum “Milk and Beef” offered a variety of topics that are of cross-animal interest and are now still available after the fair as video-on-demand on the platform www.dlg-connect.com:
