【DE】blue innovation dock of boot Düsseldorf 2023 presents top-class sponsors

The world’s largest water sports fair – boot Düsseldorf – is open from the 21st to the 29th. January 2023 again the most important hub for exchange in the industry. The trends and above all innovations for the 2023 season will be presented in 16 exhibition halls. Water sports enthusiasts will find everything their heart desires here: sailing yachts and boats, luxury yachts and motor boats, equipment for diving, surfing and paddling as well as fantastic destinations always at the destination Seaside.

In addition to the innovations of the exhibitors, goals and developments from the international water sports community and European politics are discussed with top-class speakers. The nine days of the fair are under a different, important motto for the industry at the new blue innovation dock (bid) in Hall 10. boot Director Petros Michelidakis: “This makes bid a must for all trade visitors to boot Düsseldorf. The content partner is the Association of the European Boating Industry – ECI. Participation is free of charge for visitors to boot Düsseldorf and offers great added value for the experts with its high information content.”

Global market leaders on board: international sponsors support the blue innovation dock

One of the most sustainable developments in the industry comes from the French shipyard Beneteau. As a performance partner of the Sustainability Forum, the French company presents its latest developments: The First 44 sailing yacht and the Delphia Line. In luxury yacht construction, the project partner San Lorenzo is very far ahead with its sustainability strategy. Specially established “Sustainability Divisions” develop current guidelines as well as sustainability will find its way into luxury yachts.

In addition, other yacht, boat and engine manufacturers as well as charter companies are pool partners of the bid. “In total, we have twelve active supporters of the bid on board. I am very pleased that the cooperation with ECI was so fruitful in such a short time and that we were able to win over the expertise of European politics and internationally active companies,” explains Petros Michelidakis.

The following partners of boot 2023 are available as pool partners (in alphabetical order) at bid: Azimut, Bavaria, Brunswick, DMarin, ePropulsion, Fabiani Yachts, Greenline, Princess, Sunreef and Torqeedo.

Day one, as the start of the forum, includes a Leaders dialogue with high-ranking politicians under the headline “Economy meets politics”. The path to emission-free and the strengthening of #MadeInEurope is the declared goal of the discussion here. In addition, another top-class panel sheds light on the topic of “nautical tourism”.

For day two of the bid, the organizers have set the discussion partners a challenging task. It is about sustainable drives in boat building and the presentation of the study commissioned by boot and carried out by the ECI “How is the path to the green transition of consumers and industry evaluated”.

On Monday, the bid is all about the promotion of start-ups. This is about financing innovations and start-up disruptions. And they are even invited to a pitch on the stage of the bid. The EU BlueInvest Initiative will then be presented. The EU Budget Commissioner, Johannes Hahn, holds a special key note on this.

A currently hotly discussed topic is the “fuels of the future”, which will be the focus on stage on Tuesday. There, the development and integration of alternative fuels – from biodiesel to e-fuels – will first be discussed. But, what does the infrastructure in the European marinas look like for these fuels or an electrical supply? This is discussed by representatives of the European Commission, the European Parliament and spokespersons of the manufacturers.

And what happens to unused old boats? And what about their environmentally friendly disposal? Questions that the speakers will ask themselves on Wednesday at the bid. The EU-wide roadmap of the European Commission and the European boat industry for the disposal of recreational craft is eagerly awaited. In order to make this easier to achieve in the future, the use of recyclable materials should also be implemented even more strongly in boatbuilding and, above all, sustainable composite materials are to be installed.

Sustainability in nautical tourism will be the focus of the exchange on the bid stage on Thursday. This is about the green development of the charter and marina sector as well as a perspective for the entire water sports sector.

On Friday, the focus of bid will be on digital innovations for the implementation of sustainability. The program is supplemented by the point of how innovative boat design can lead to more sustainability in boat building. Of course, life cycle assessments and the use of the latest techniques, keyword hydrofoils, play an important role here.

However, the bid is not only a forum for industry and politics. On the second Saturday of the boat, the focus will be on the NGOs – the non-governmental organizations. They will shed light on their experiences with the industry and discuss whether enough is being done for active marine, climate and nature conservation.

And on the last day of boot 2023, the active athletes and boaters are on the spot at the bid. Spokespersons of the active people discuss with representatives of industry and international associations what needs to be done on the subject of sustainability!
